Creating Icewind Dale Mod. Can you help me?
« on: October 07, 2014, 06:10:16 AM »
How do you do Modders and Gamers?  Can you help me?
I'm creating an Icewind Dale Mod, but have some problems.

One, WeiDU shows error messages when using 'alignment' trigger in IWD.  How can I avoid this?
Two, I'm not a native English speaker, so I may not be using proper expressions.  They may be so funny.
Three, I don't have any IE Modder friend, so I cannot correct the game balance of my mod.

Someone can teach me, how to avoid above error message?

And,
I wanna request some kind people to criticize or comment on
my mod's balancing or dialogues' expressions.
(Sorry, here's not an English School, but if you can...)
If someone comments on them, I want to let them be reflected.

My mod is here,
http://book.geocities.jp/polly_flinders_has_an_applepie/iwd.html

Best regards.

.....
I wrote scrpts like this,
Code: [Select]
IF ~Alignment(protagonist,0x3)~ THEN REPLY @xxxx EXITIt is compiled surely, but Weidu shows an error message.

If you tried this mod, and felt something...
Please give me some *severe* comments.
Also kind comments are welcome, but I want to learn more.

There's interest in IWD mods - there are quite a few on Gibberlings3.net, and there's my IWD NPC on pocketplane.net. But the interest is quite low - the download numbers aren't as high as BG2.
But there's hope! IWD:Enhanced Edition will come out eventually from Beamdog, and it's bound to raise more interest. They have forums, too - forums on http://forum.baldursgate.com/

I know how frustrating it is to want more feedback and not get it. I'm sorry I can't say anything myself - a new expansion for SWTOR, Shadow of Revan, has just been announced, and I'm fully immersed in it.

For other people, maybe it would help if you create a single mod out of your small mods, with a big shiny download links - right now, the interface is kind of hard to navigate. But that's just me. Good luck!

Hello, Kulyok!  Thank you for your advice.

No, no.  I'm not frastrated.
I just wanted to remark that severe opinions are welcome.
Like this, too hard, too easy, too dull, etc...

> right now, the interface is kind of hard to navigate

Ah, maybe.  Probably because I'm using an old PC...
Ajust the font size of your browser, please.  I always do so. XD
But I rather love text links than graphic icons.

I've already made a single archive contains whole partial mods.
'0. Lyric Suite (Contains whole below contents)' is it.

Enhanced Edition makes the gamers look back Icewind Dale again?
I hope so, too.
I'm gonna see also that website.  Thanks!

You sure your dialog block looks like this?
Code: [Select]
IF ~Alignment(Protagonist,MASK_EVIL)~ THEN BEGIN block1
SAY @xxxx
IF ~~ THEN EXIT
END
Note the proper form. Also, try to use the word version of all identifiers, the codes are mostly internal

Hello Almateria!

Sorry, I didn't write the error message.
The WeiDU's message was this,

Quote
ERROR location resource for 'get_ids_map'
Resource [ALIGNMENT.IDS] not found in KEY file:
[./chitin.key]

I'd tried your way. (a little different?)

The problem was that WeiDU couldn't recognize the original .ids file of IWD.
(It is named 'ALIGNMEN.IDS'.)
So, I made a new.ids file named 'ALIGNMENT.IDS', and added to my mod,
for that WeiDU can read the values from it.

By this way, the error messages disappeared.
Thanks a lot!
