Beta 231.10
« on: July 25, 2013, 06:03:32 PM »
This beta adds/improves upon DECOMPRESS_BIFF. This action was originally coded by Bigg back in 2010, but was never documented. DECOMPRESS_BIFF in this version has been extensively rewritten to add functionality and fix bugs. Beta location.

Usage example:
Code: [Select]
OUTER_SPRINT mybiff AREA2200.BIF

DECOMPRESS_BIFF AREA090A.BIF //cd3/data/area090a.bif (location of cd3 is fetched from baldur.ini)
EFFECTS.BIF //./data/effects.bif (already decompressed, no change by DECOMPRESS_BIFF)
                AREA000A.BIF //cd2/data/area000a.bif, cd3/data/area000a.bif, cd4/data/area000a.bif
                "%mybiff%" //cd4/data/area2200.bif
More information can be found in the readme.
I will also add command-line options for decompressing biffs, but in the interest of getting this out ASAP, that's for next version.

Also new:
MOD_FOLDER variable
HANDLE_AUDIO function
Bugfix in MOVE
Improved and bugfixed --traify
Improved REPLACE_BCS_BLOCK
Bugfix in *_TRY and *_MATCH

Oh wow! And HANDLE_AUDIO looks really interesting, too(though I guess I'll have to wait until it's out of beta and everything).

One small thing: I think beta link needs editing.

Hi! Thank you for your work!
I wanted to report that almost all mods in my BWP install work great with this new beta except these 2 tp2 that provide parse error:

Code: [Select]
ERROR: problem parsing TP file [BiG World Fixpack\_utils\cre_check.tp2]: Not_found

FATAL ERROR: Not_found

TP2s:
http://www.4shared.com/rar/0mbjw2LT/tp2s.html
These worked with previous 231.09 Beta.

The problem with cre_check.tp2 is that is does not declare a valid backup directory. I suppose I should allow that again.
In these days of a wide variety of non-crappy file hosts, I'm not touching 4shared. Can you instead tell me which the second tp2 is?

Sorry, didn't find a way to attach files here on forum.
Other tp2 is setup-ninjawakifix.tp2 from latest BiG World Fixpack. Same error, probably same reason like cre_check.

Yeah. Well, their questionable choices will work again in the next version.

Apologies in advance for asking this - I know that questions about release dates and time frames are quite annoying for most developers; however, is there a rough date for the next stable (non-beta) release of WeiDU? Something like "within the next 3-5 weeks" or "sometime in autumn" would be accurate enough. Thanks, and keep up the good work! :)

I aim to have a release candidate some time in August, but that is absolutely no promise or guarantee. The stable version shouldn't be too long after that.

The latest linux 232 beta 10 version is borked; it fails with,

bash: ./weidu: cannot execute binary file

which is usually a sign of a wrong binary being used. The usual culprits for this type of error (executable not in path, wrong permissions) have been written off.

note: on kubuntu 13.04, 32-bit architecture. More details needed just holler.

Heh, yeah, sorry about that. I accidentally uploaded a 64-bit build instead of the usual 32-bit. Will fix.

Okay, it's now 32-bit.
