Playing properly after ages
« on: April 12, 2013, 09:06:40 AM »
Post-deployment I've been pretty bored, so I installed TuTu with various mods to make it more playable and challenging. ScS and so on. Ran a Berserker and his party through the game like that, all the way to TOB.

Then BG:EE came along, and that piqued an interest in multiplayer that quickly died again. But, it means the subject of a two-character run was brought up, and now I'm working on that. JESUS CHRIST I've died a lot of times! D:

Half-elf Cleric/Ranger
18/00, 18, 18, 4, 18, 8

Gnome Illusionist/Thief
16, 18, 16, 19, 3, 12

I struggled a bit between going kensai/mage on one char and cleric/thief on the other, but decided that this was the only way to leave a character with the armor capacity to act as a tank early in the game.

Juggling with six or seven level one spells against assassins and monsters has never been more terrifying.

Sleep is a huge help, as is Command. I rely on potions for healing for now, since they're plentiful when there's only two characters consuming them. But I'm still getting my ass kicked.

Sounds like someone's having fun. :)  With BG2Tweaks, SCS, Rogue Rebalancing and various kit mods it's fun to play indeed. It's too bad BG1 NPC doesn't work on BG:EE yet, but I'm sure it will eventually - and anyway, since you're thinking about multiplayer, it's not that big an issue.

I've heard you shouldn't save/use quicksave too often in the wilderness, because monsters immediately respawn, and the game becomes more difficult. Not sure if it's true or not.

Ah, just to clarify, I'm not running BG:EE, merely that the release of BG:EE got my old BG buddies talking about it, waking my interest in a 'solo' run like this.

Just tried about seven times to beat the Xvart village. I never thought that place EVER posed a danger to ANYone, yet here we are. >.>

EDIT: My objective was to play once where the game forces me to use more or less all spells and potions that I'm given.
