EasyTutu Install Missing Files
« on: June 05, 2012, 07:49:35 PM »
Hi all, just tried to install EasyTutu on my new machine, and I'm having trouble.  I'm getting the cursed "missing file" install problem, where it can't find files in the BG1 folder.  I saw in other topics that for some reason not everything always gets copied correctly during the install, so I manually went through the CDs and added the missing files I could find.  As best I can tell, I'm not only missing files from Tales of the Sword Coast (which I don't have).  I've got the check-box for disabling the TotSC content, but it's still throwing up the error.  Below is the complete list of files it says are missing, hopefully I'm not just being dumb and overlooking one more file that's from the original BG.  Any help is much appreciated!

TotSC is required in the latest distribution.  If you don't care to pick it up from GoG or wherever, I've left the old distributions available. See the requirements section of the main Easytutu page.

Thanks Macready, downloaded and installed v4, now trying to install the TutuFix v18 pack and am having a problem with it saying it can't find the _xannn29.wav file so the corefix fails.  Any help with this would also be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance all!

Actually, I meant for you took at the requirements section of this page in order to locate links to the old EasyTutu distributions. You've got Tutu v4, which is ancient and suboptimal.

The only link in the "Requirements" section goes to an .exe that's designed to work for older Windows systems, but it is otherwise identical to the main download posted (ie it still requires TotSC).

Can't edit thanks to being a guest, but a quick google search using the date of the last release prior to requiring TotSC pulled up this website:

http://mtpa.org.uk/downloads/games/bg/bg1_tutu/EasyTutu.html

Look's like it's an image of your site from sometime in 2010, so the main download linked there should work for those of us without TotSC.

...I really should've registered, shouldn't I have? Heh.

Looks like I'm continuing to have issues, although it first appeared that this new set of issues was caused by a badly scratched third disk (Installed some files, but not all). However, it seems that the installer is looking for something from a mythical sixth disk:

Code: [Select]
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Movies\MovieCD6.bip
Unless, of course, the developers simply used "CD6" to indicate the expansion disk, in which case my previous post should be ignored and I need to go back to digging for a more recent, but not ancient, version.

For older versions of Windows, yes. Requires TotSC, no.  I supported no-TotSC installations up until I rewrote the installer.

Odd. Considering there is no prompt for the user to say if they've installed TotSC, how does it handle that decision, exactly? I'm curious if it's just that the installer always dumps that the SotSC files are missing when it's not installed, even if there are other, more critical, files missing.

Latest dump I got from the installer:
Code: [Select]
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA490X.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA5000.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA5500.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA0500.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA050A.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA050B.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA050C.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA050D.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA1000.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA100A.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA1500.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA150A.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA2000.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA200A.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\AREA200B.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\ExArMaps.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\MPGUI.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Data\MPSounds.bif
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Movies\MovieCD6.bif[/code

It looks as though the first three files listed are the files that failed to install from my scratched third disk, but the rest appear to be from the SotSC disk.

Confirmed: The dump operates under the assumption that you're doing a TotSC install when displaying. It's when *only* TotSC files are missing that it will prompt the user to go with a non-TotSC install.
