EasyTutu doesn't need CD? Since when???
« on: April 16, 2012, 05:33:44 PM »
I've used the newest installer (in beta form) to make an EasyTutu game and to clone BG2 to install a BGT game.  I ran across the oddest thing.  I'd forgotten to mount the ISO image I had made of my dvd.  EasyTutu started up just fine, loaded the game without prompting for disk.  I was even able to move around between areas.  Only oddities were that whatever icon in the 5th button over on the control bar would kick on whenever any other of the actions were attempted.  For thieves this meant that they would try to pickpockets on anyone clicked on or remove traps.  For a ranger it would put them in defend mode. After this the cursor would flash between normal and whatever that button would do for that character.  I thought it weird and so i exited and checked my BG2 install. That's when I learned that I'd forgotten to mount the ISO.

Shouldn't EasyTutu also pester about the disk when its not present?

Hi plainab.

If that's true, it wasn't a deliberate move.  When I rewrote the installer, I integrated the logic which patches the game executable into the new program (the old installer used to call a separate program I'd written for this purpose).  It's possible that I grabbed the patch arrays that I use for my own private use (instead of the "public consumption" ones) when doing so.

Can anyone else verify that the CD isn't required when using the new installer?

might as well keep relying here since its about the same install.....

Is Infinity Animations included in the EasyTutu install?

Reason I'm asking is that I've been testing a mod for Miloch and it uses animations if present from IA.  The BGT version didn't have those animations and I needed to install IA before they would show up.  However, some if not all of them are already present in my EasyTutu install.

I don't even know what Infinity Animations is.  So, no.  The ET installation might have cloned whatever resources from the source install, though.

Just installed EasyTutu, ran the game without any CD or DVD in the drive and indeed, game started just fine. I created a thief, walked around in candlekeep and talked to some people, but nothing strange happened (so far I did not encounter the bugs described by plainab). Not sure, what it could mean in the long run, though. Anything to worry about concerning modding and game stability?

I forgot to add that I was using the latest EasyTutu_ToB installer.
