Installation help needed!
« on: February 08, 2011, 11:54:00 AM »
I'm having troubles running BG1 Tutu v. 4.

I followed the installation guide at http://www.pocketplane.net/mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=141&Itemid=98
although it says "run bgmain.exe in your BGII directory to play BG1Tutu", but that just starts my BG2 - ToB.

What should I do?

Yes, it starts you BG2 game, but that's not automatically the ToB portion of the game... try the other and see where you actually start... it should be in Candlekeep in BG1. And if it isn't, reinstall the BG2 game into a folder that's not in "Program Files" sub-folder... cause your Operation System is cheesed that way that you must...

that looks like it can't find the baldur.ini file from the original BG game.  before installing TuTu you need to make sure that you have installed and started a game (no need to save it) on both BG with ToTSC and BG SoA/ToB.  In the case of BG once you are in Candlekeep, you can exit the game.  In the case of BG2 after Imoen unlocks the cage and you get thru the dialog with her you can exit the game.  This is to fully initialize the baldur.ini files in both games.

If you don't have BG:ToTSC installed you cannot use TuTu as it pulls resources from the BG game and converts them for use in the BG2 game engine.

(do note there are some versions of TuTu which allow a non ToTSC installation)

Unless your game is not English, may I recommend using EasyTutu.  It is by far easier to install.

There might be a CZ forum available for your troubles(BG2 fans are everywhere, after all). Barring that, you have a magic button - search function. Chances are dozens of people have already encountered similar problems. Read this, for example: http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php/topic,22842.0.html - may be a botched Tutu installation/without TotSC, possibly. I can't help, but search likely will.
