Urgh... Genie dialogue scramble bug
« on: July 27, 2010, 03:59:06 AM »
I didn't install any "dialog.tlk" overwriting mods, only Weidu ones - but I seem to have encountered the kind of error that frequently results from overwrites, so I am puzzled.

Having progressed no further in the genie lamp / Kalah plot than receiving the lamp from the girl, I then went around doing other usual quests - and had just popped out of the Slaver Ship when a person named "Hello, again" (yes, in fact, this was in the name slot) appeared and attempted to join my party.

I then had dialogue options that appeared to consist of things that other people would be saying later in the plot. Some screenshots:

I clicked on random dialogue options to get through this and got attempted rejoins twice. Feared I'd never be rid of poor "Hello, again" but finally got this person to leave the party.

Oh, and leaving the lamp behind in the ship and reloading from the save didn't seem to help any.

What on earth was going on?

Random dialogue means reinstall.  Or restoring a quick backup from here and reinstalling the mods: http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php/topic,17555.0/topicseen.html

Unfortunately, I JUST installed the game and the mods days ago, and followed all the install order instructions. Without a better guess as to what's causing it, I don't want to do the same thing all over again... after all, they do say that madness is doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result.
