Effects format inside a creature
« on: September 26, 2010, 05:44:24 AM »
Hi,

I was wondering why there are several effect format inside a creature ?

For my current mod, I use BG2 with easy tutu
In Near Infinity, I open _DRELIK.CRE, click on Add - Effect, I open it and see an effect with 2C length

After, I take _DRIZZT.CRE, same actions, effect with 100 length.
As a strange note, this one has a signature field, but it is empty (Previous one had none)

Of course, different length means different format.
For information, both CRE are in version 1, as should be all CRE in Baldur's Gate.

So, my questions are:
- can I use different effects format in any CRE ? (using WEIDU)
- how Near Infinity determines which effect version?

The byte at 0x33 specifies whether a creature's embedded effects use the v1 or v2 format.
