Hello folks,
New modder here. Well, not entirely new, a few of you may have seen my handiwork already as I did put a link to it here on the site a long time ago. :-)
Anyway, I'm just trying to learn the ways of WeiDU, NearInfinity and other modding tools, and while doing so I wrote a collection of small mods for BG1: TotSC that I named Made in Heaven. (I'm not very religious, but I have a thing with angels...) It seems that I have at least one fan already, as a week ago someone from PPG emailed me asking for a new version.
That gave me such a kick that I went to work with all the little ideas I had floating around for a while, and my previously very small mod collection suddenly grew quite a bit. You can see it for yourself on my site, here:
http://www.pearlgates.net/games/bg1mih/(NB: The rest of my site contains a lot of weird stuff that has nothing to do with Baldur's Gate and most of it is definitely NSFW. Feel free to take a peek if you're so inclined but please don't discuss it here.)
Well, I'm looking for more ideas to put into the next version so if you have suggestions for some small, not too complicated mods please put them here or send them to me in private. And yes, I am working on a version for BG2: ToB as well, so feel free to give suggestions for that too. :-)
Some parts of my mod may be suited for inclusion in other, more established mods. If you feel you can use a part of my mod, please go ahead. A note would be nice but is not required.
Also, I'm looking for a little help. In my personal opinion, paladins are a little underpowered in BG1 (and perhaps in BG2 as well), as they trade in weapon (grand)mastery for... well, a one-shot healing spell, and two first level spells that aren't too hot. So what I want to do do is beef them up a little by granting an extra use of Lay on Hands at level 4 and 7, and perhaps also a Smite Evil ability as in AD&D 3.5E.
But I have hit a snag there, as I cannot find any file or script which controls what abilities paladins get at level up. As far as I can tell they seem to be hard-coded into the game. Is there a way to do this after all? Or should I give up and look for something else to meddle with?
Oh, speaking of meddling, I just found that BG1 contains an unfinished version of the Ice Storm spell (the spell seems to be there, but it lacks icons and a scroll, so it cannot be learned). Since Ice Storm is a favorite spell of mine in AD&D, I think I'll go see if I can do anything with it. :-)
