hmm.  a little over a year ago, i was 'watership down' and chile.

now i'm 'the guns of august' - but still chile. *phew*

i was hoping for 'love in the time of cholera', since i've finally started it.  oh well...

You're really skinny, and kind of bumpy in frame, but you're not as
rough a person as you used to be.  You like long, long, long walks on the beach and
avoiding having your rights violated, just like anybody else does.  You're even
willing to stand up to those with more power and influence than you, trying to bring them
to justice.  Fight the man!

You're Catch-22!
by Joseph Heller
Incredibly witty and funny, you have a taste for irony in all that you see. It seems that life has put you in perpetually untenable situations, and your sense of humor is all that gets you through them. These experiences have also made you an ardent pacifist, though you present your message with tongue sewn into cheek. You could coin a phrase that replaces the word "paradox" for millions of people.

Yep, that's me. Weird.

You're Night!
by Elie Wiesel
You've had some truly horrific experiences, especially recently, and you can barely stand to discuss them. While many people are afraid of getting close to you because of this, it has also built a fascination and admiration of you that is hard to rival. You know that things are about to get better soon, but that the trauma will be impossible to forget. You are short, but powerful.

Yeah, those diapers and sick can be pretty mind-shattering sometimes!  :D

You're The Sound and the Fury!
by William Faulkner
Strong-willed but deeply confused, you are trying to come to grips with a major crisis in your life. You can see many different perspectives on the issue, but you're mostly overwhelmed with despair at what you've lost. People often have a hard time understanding you, but they have some vague sense that you must be brilliant anyway. Ultimately, you signify nothing.

and

You're Ireland!
Mystical and rain-soaked, you remain mysterious to many people, and this makes you intriguing.  You also like a good night at the pub, though many are just as worried that you will blow up the pub as drink your beverage of choice.  You're good with words, remarkably lucky, and know and enjoy at least fifteen ways of eating a potato.  You really don't like snakes.

You're 1984!  :pirate
by George Orwell
You have this uncanny feeling that you're always being watched. Thus life has become a bit of a show as you try to portray yourself as much more reputable than you actually are. All around you, people seem to accept an unending stream of lies and propaganda without flinching. Your only hope may be a star-crossed love affair, but pain seems stonger than love. If you have any older brothers, be very wary of them.

I don't think I ever did this book thing...

You're Watership Down!
by Richard Adams
Though many think of you as a bit young, even childish, you're actually incredibly deep and complex. You show people the need to rethink their assumptions, and confront them on everything from how they think to where they build their houses. You might be one of the greatest people of all time. You'd be recognized as such if you weren't always talking about talking rabbits.

OMG! It's just like me! (though no doubt many of you would think me conceited and disagree)

You're Pale Fire!
by Vladimir Nabokov
You're really into poetry and the interpretation thereof. Along the road of life, you have had several identity crises which make it very unclear who you are, let alone how to interpret poetry. You probably came from a foreign country, but then again you seem foreign to everyone in ways unrelated to immigration. Most people think you're quite funny, but maybe you're just sick. Talking to you ends up being much like playing a round of the popular board game Clue.

You're The Catcher in the Rye!
by J.D. Salinger
You are surrounded by phonies, and boy are you sick of them! In an ongoing struggle to search for a land without phonies, you end up running away from everything, from school to consequences. In this process, you reveal that many people in your life have suffered torments and all you really want to do is catch them as they fall. Perhaps using a baseball mitt. Your biggest fans are infamous psychotics.

Huh.

Apparently I'm this book.

You're Cat's Cradle!
by Kurt Vonnegut

You believe quite firmly that free will deserted you long ago and far away. As a result, it's hard to take responsibility for anything. Even though you show great potential as a leader of a small 3rd world country, the choices are all made ahead of time. You're rather fond of games involving string. Your fear of nuclear weaponry is trumped only by your fear of ice.

I'm afraid of ice? Ok...  ???

I think this book suits me much better.

ICE-9 is way scarier than icelus.  I have Cat's Cradle sitting on the floor right beside me, actually.  Good book, if you can resist the temptation to be a pretentious Vonnegut fanboy and act all obnoxious and pseudo-intellectual and stuff.

...and if you can't, it's not a good book? :P  {i'm all about breakfast & monkey house, but i don't think i've made it through even half of his oeuvre}
whoever made that quiz didn't even make it as far as pseudo-.  more than half of the references are bogus in-jokes.  and not even half of those are particularly clever even if you have read the book.
at least they didn't go out of their way with the Ulysses entry, which was almost bearable - although they probably never read it for credit.
