FOTD and unfinished business Issues
« on: December 01, 2009, 01:42:50 PM »
Hey there, I managed to install the game and play but i have been having a problem,...i am following Dan Simpson FAQ and i found the locations he pointed to get the ring of protection AND the ring of wizardry ....and they simply are not there when i click on it and open the loot inventory.....

I have tales of the sword coast installed and the recommended patch for Fields of the dead that was mentioned in the README...i installed both Fields and Unfinished business...the items are gone because of those mods or something like that???

FOTD is version 1.07 and Unfinished business is 1.09 version.....is either of those mods are making items disappear or something like that??

It says somewhere that FotD "renews the game". That is my way of saying that you should not expect everything to be where it used to. I should probably make that a bit clearer.

Single-classed mages usually are. I always use specialists.

For the extra spells right?? when i played BG 2 i used to be one(Invoker since i liked the destruction spells)...but i prefer having all spells avaiable for all kinds of situations...such as summons for magic immune monsters...mages that go invisible( BG 2 has lots of it) etc

Yes. However, the examples you mention are different in BG:TotSC. The only creatures immune to magic are a few Flesh Golems and in general wizards do not have access to as many protection and Illusion spells. Besides, clerics also have a spell that can detect invisibility. Note that specialists and their opposition schools have been updated with this mod which also introduces the school of Universal Magic, spells all wizards have access to. http://www.echon.dk/fotd/features.html

That is good...wish there was universal magic in BG 2..but i plan to import my Mage in the future for Bg 2...and unless i use shadowkeep i wont be able to make him become a single class mage in 2.....and to deal with the pesky mages and magic immune monsters i need all spells avaiable >_<

Or is there an Fields of the dead for BG2 too?

No, unfortunately not. FotD for BG2 would be a massive project. Well, even more than it already is.

Playing a specialist in the first game and then removing it before BG2 is fairly easy. Near Infinity can do that, too.

BG2 strips your character of all spells and special abilities. You can only import certain items, such as a particular pair of metallic trousers.

Yes, you lose them all but you get to pick new ones, like you normally would when creating a character in BG2. I do not recall whether there is a cap on the amount of XP.

It is not a bug I can reproduce here. Perhaps UB changes Blindness.

Nah...Unfinished business doesnt alter spells and such...but i got my answer anyway:

Its not broken. The enemy is just blind like the name of the spell says.

His vision radius is reduced to literally one pixel size around him. (You can actually see just how tiny this vision radius is if you blind a party member, or dust mephits in BG2 can also blind you.) If you stand outside his tiny vision radius and attack, he won't be able to see you and won't fight back.

I guess one thing that could be said to be broken would be the pathetic AI in the game. Even a person is blinded, he is still going to realize when an arrow pierces his stomach so he should try to get away. Instead, the pathetic AI of the game merely makes the enemy stand in place like an idiot while you turn him into a pincushion. That is broken, but the spell itself really is not.

Cant Blame a mage for using his avaiable spells anyway....even the strong doomsayer could get blinded eheheheh

I wanted to remedy that in FotD and I have made blinded enemies randomwalk. During my test they did do so. Have you not experienced this?

Yes some do randomwalk......but they dont go very far and dont fight back....plus my front line gain a great bonus for rolls for attacking a blinded victim.......so before the spell ends the npc is usually dead

I tested this on a spider and she kept attacking though...
