My first book got published!
« on: September 25, 2009, 08:27:19 AM »
My first book got published! The name is "A Dragon's Summer"("Драконье лето"), and I hope... ah, hells, I'll just hope that it'll sell and they'll publish another one! ;D

It's in Russian, so, even though it's published by a large company and available throughout the country, I'm afraid not many of you will read it. :) For those of you who'd like to have a look, the cover is attached below(small, I know - I'm afraid I don't have a large pic), aaaaand I'd like to thank you all for playing my mods, giving feedback, or at least for knowing they exist - because without you, I don't know if I'd been able to dare and write an actual book. Thank you, folks.

Yay!!!

As soon as Babelfish's translations are refined to perfection, I'll totally read it.

Do you have an ISBN number?
So if the devil wants to dance with you, you'd better say never cuz the dance with the devil might last you forever

Can you give a short summary? (an "abstract")

How long did it take you to write the first draft?
And how much time did pass from the first draft that the editor got to the published version?

Dragons ruled the world, but humans and mages overthrew them: many dragons died and others lost power. Dragons can take human form, so some of the dragons survived and lived among normal people. It's a story about a young dragon who wished to restore the old order and went in search of an old book of dragon magic, Dragonlore. One problem, though: only a mage can decipher a link to this book, so, to learn magic, our (anti-)hero has to pass for a mage in the city of mages.

It took me a year to write it, and another six months passed until I actually saw it in a bookstore and bought it.

Missed the chance for the "birthday spanking" so...

Congratulations on being a bona fide Author!

Looking forward to buying an english translation -- which you could do yourself.

Heh, you didn't happen to draw any of this inspiration from the Underdark quest in BGII?

More like from The Count of Monte-Christo, or the Nox computer game. :) I loved the quest where the warrior guy with a big hammer got into the mages's tower and kept crushing mages and selling their robes. But seriously, I don't know. Things just stay in one's head, I guess.

Congratulations, Kulyok ! Having played some of your mods I don't find it very surprising you'll make a good writer.  :D
By the way, could you tell us if your experience in modding has affected the way you write conventional fiction ?

Thank you! I hope readers'll think so, too.

And, yes, sure it had some influence. Frankly, I have to slap myself each time I think of BG2 and IWD(my second novel features my IWD NPC chars, but NOT IWD plot or Forgotten Realms), because "hey! it's already been written, remember!" BG2 plot is addictive. :)
