Finch quest

I know this topic probably come up a million of times before but I didn't want to use the search engine because I don't like spoilers. Hopefully someone will be kind enough to answer.

If you do all the main quests in BG do you also come across all the books. Or do you have to really hunt them down like enter random houses etc that have nothing to do with the game per se. Just trying to work out how much effort to put into tracing the books down.

You will have to check in unusual places, I'm afraid. For example, I usually open nearly all containers in area ****, but still I missed the one I needed.
