Appending to CHARSTR.2DA
« on: April 19, 2009, 06:11:39 AM »
I'm going to append five sets of subtitles for my IWD NPC soundsets to CHARSTR.2DA file. (Finally!)

Unfortunately, I'm not sure I know how to do it: the thing is, CHARSTR.2DA records look like

Female_Fighter_1   19743   19744   19747   19749   19750   11644   19751   19752   19753   19754   19756   19757   19758   19759   19760   19761   19762   19763   19764   19765   19766   19767   19768   19769   19770   19772   19774   19775   19776   19777   19778   19779   19782   19789   19790   19791   19797   19798   19799   19800

- a long list of dialog.tlk line references. I don't have line references, obviously, and I probably can't use @100 .tra line references... right? So... I wonder. What should I do?

First, append a line with dummy values in the place of each entry, like 'dummy100', 'dummy101,' ..., then do REPLACE dummy100 @100, REPLACE dummy101 @101, ....

It looks like a solution, thank you. I'm not sure I know how REPLACE works - never had any experience with it, but I'm about to look up the documentation.

EDIT: And it worked. Thank you again!
