Item Upgrade and Under-represented makes Valygar happy man-beast?

Having installed the previously mentioned mods and tried out Twelve Paces and the Throwing Impaler, I've become quite convinced that Valygar is, in fact, much better wailing on people with spears than with some silly Katana.  Has anyone else noticed the tremendous utility of Twelve Paces (lower resist AND breach x3/day for a ranger?  kthxbai) or that Valygar becomes a hose-monster with Throwing Impaler?  He makes fighting golems fun!
