About Mac version
« on: May 20, 2008, 06:04:38 AM »
To my knowledge, Icewind Dale is available for OS X. So, a Mac version of IWD NPC will be required of me at some point.

I shall be happy to provide it, even if only forty or fifty people will actually use it. But I am not sure I will be able to convert IWD NPC mod to Mac without error; besides, I do not have a Mac machine available to test it.

Naturally, I'll make do somehow, but it's to your best interest to have a mod that works. :) If you have the necessary knowledge and a working computer with OS X, I will welcome your assistance. Please, post here or PM me, and I will link you to the pre-release version.

So, v1 is available, so if someone with a working Mac machine and some knowledge can make a working IWD NPC for Mac and e-mail the result to me/send me the temporary link privately, I'll appreciate it. For the time being, it's IWD NPC v1 for Windows.

I'm afraid that Heart of Winter expansion was never made available for the Mac. The company responsible for porting Icewind Dale for the Mac has left us in the dust. As it has been made clear that this (seemingly really awesome) mod is only compatible with Icewind Dale games with Heart of Winter installed, it seems there cannot be a Mac version. I am unsure the status of the OR() command in the Mac version, but I can only assume that it mirrors the PC version.

Oh, I'm sorry. :( I've heard there's a possibility of using a virtual machine, though - perhaps it's not impossible.

I think the most reasonable solution is to hijack my boyfriend's PC. Considering how prevalent PCs are, I'm thinking that is the easier solution over dealing with the mess that is Virtual PC. :P

If you're using a virtual machine, you need the Windows version of IWD1NPC (or whatever mod).

If you're using WineX (or whatever compatibility layer), you need the OSX version of the mod, the Windows version of the game, and an OSX-ized version of the ini file.

My simple solution of stealing my man's computer has worked! :o I still don't trust PCs.

...Mmmmmm, Holvir is immensely delicious.
