Just finished my first BG game with UB installed

While I'm quite experimental with BG2, I usually play BG unmodded, so I decided to give UB a whirl.
I played a LN fighter with the following party: Imoen, Ajantis, Kivan, Coran, Yeslick.

Game was patched and the following installed:

No other mods (not even Tutu - this is the non-Tutu version).

Several of the things worked fine (the vial quest, Quoningar, the Sashenstar's daughter) but a few others didn't seem to happen, or if they did, I missed them. Coran did not comment on the wyverns at all, and as with the unmodded game, kept making comments about having wyverns to kill.
I didn't notice Edie near the Merchant League either, but then I could have just overlooked her (I did not kill Aldeth so I got his quest with the doppelgangers).
I didn't notice Shilo Chen either.
The other thing I'm curious about is the final Tamoko encounter in the Undercity. In my previous (unmodded) game I also played a LN fighter - only difference was that time it was a female, rather than a male as in this game - and was able to talk her out of attacking. This time I couldn't despite telling her she wasn't my enemy and not to throw her life away. Anyone know if this is down to UB, or something silly like only women can talk her out of fighting? (Just curious, really).

The dialog with Tamoko has only one way of getting her to leave in peace, by saying at the end "If you would throw your life away, then you are already dead. If that is your choice, then you do not need me". There's two instances of the very same sentence, but the triggers are different (ReactionGT(LastTalkedToBy,NEUTRAL_UPPER VS. FRIENLY_LOWER & HOSTILE_UPPER)). The Neutral one makes her leave, the others make her attack you regardless. According to the IEDSP, those are identifiers for reactions, but I don't know how they're set nor the particular conditions for this encounter.  I'd hazard Charisma has something to do with it, but someone who knows better can shed more light on the matter.

In UB for regular BG1, Shilo Chen is in the Elfsong tavern, by your left when you enter the ground floor.

Edie is near the bar in the first floor of the Merchant Consortium.

Yes, I've come to the conclusion it was down to charisma as well.
And I must have just missed the other characters on that playthrough.
Any ideas why Coran's fix didn't seem to work? (Kivan's did, incidentally).

I am aware that Shilo Chen was screwed up in the Tutu/BGT version, but I think you are using the BG1 version, and it should be working in that version.

I was indeed. I subsequently had a spyware problem and had to reformat my PC (ugh) so I've reinstalled the whole lot.
The Tamoko thing seems to be nothing to do with UB and everything to do with charisma, or lack thereof, if other folks are to be believed.

I'm just in another game of BG now, with different NPCs this time. One thing was I did try taking Kagain, but when he arrived at the downed caravan, he left party (of his own volition), then asked to join again...then left, then followed me, asked to join...rinse and repeat. I reloaded from before where I picked him up and won't include him in this playthrough. Don't know what's going on there.

This time I have an ease of use mod but nothing else.
