Running BG2 from an external hard drive
« on: May 23, 2008, 06:09:39 AM »
I did a search, but couldn't find any information on this.

I have an external hard drive with a full install of BG2 on it (copy-pasted directly from my normal installation).  Will this work on a different PC?   I guess the baldur.exe launcher program will just give me an "Install" otion instead of a "Play" option, but could I use bgmain.exe to start the game instead?  It might run a bit slowly too depending on USB speeds.

Anyone done this before/know anything about it?

It likely will be slow, but should work just fine (I had even played over a network share once).

It worked fine, after I'd eventually remembered to alter the CD data paths in the baldur.ini file. Duh. ::)
