At what point should HoW be started?

Should I be aiming to attempt HoW and TotL at any specific moments during the game, or is there a natural progression by just playing the standard game to the end and then going for HoW?

At any time between Chapter 3 and Chapter 5. Right after Chapter 3 is the best time.
