Poetry Good Enough for a Bard!
« on: February 12, 2008, 02:41:42 PM »
I think most people have a pretty good idea of whether or not they can write something good enough for a Bard to perform -- and those who know they can't, don't try.

Ah, the Gauntlet has been thrown!
I invite any and all participants to ALSO respond with their Poetry Good Enough for a Bard - don't be shy!  We certainly won't be in commenting on it!

Now, a Poem without setup in a play DOES make things slightly more difficult, as set-up will have to be a part of the poem, but that never stopped me before.

Just for Iambic pentameter is strictly defined.

From Candlekeep to walk the streets of Amn,
Mere months adventure there between did be,
And fearsome foes were counted dead each time,
For never lived a single one past meet.

Names gaining fear rang in the halls of dead,
Great plans disrupting nations broke in days,
Upon the fateful meeting battle great,
Gorions ward did plant them six feet deep.

A youth of great potential born of Bhaal,
A dead god's blood ran strong in veins of flesh,
Though tried in combat step by painful step,
The taint of evil cast soul in sharp relief.

In travels many assisted, some fell,
Yet destiny had chosen only one spawn,
To stand at Bhalls empty fell throne and choose,
Melisan's goal or mortal life complete.
If you aren't happy, it's not my fault.
