Installtion Problems (I'm no whiz!)
« on: July 08, 2007, 06:40:21 PM »
Hey everyone, I'm new here but not new to Baldur's gate I love the game to pieces!

When I heard of Fields of the dead I was excited because I was looking to play the first BG in a different way with more enemies and weapons etc. BUT i cannot get the thing installed.  :(

When I first tried to install it, it said there was an error and couldn't find the dialog.tlk file. I copyed that and put it in the FoTdv107 folder (which i have inside like this C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\FotDv107)

then I tried installing and it came up with another error

ERROR: COPY ~fotd/AASIM.cre~ ~override/AASIM.cre~ FAILED cannot open target

says the rolling back to previous state blah blah and that override/AASIM.cre: No such file or directory
I copied a file i found in the FotDv107 file with the name AASIM.cre and put that into the override file in my baldur's gate directory but still no change! I did the same thing with the baf file with the same name and no change there also

Any help would be greatly appreciated please.

 Thank you in advance :)

It looks like you have put the files into the wrong folder. setup-FotD.exe and setup-FotD.tp2 should be in your main Baldur's Gate installation folder (C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\), while the rest of the files need to be in a FotD folder in the same place. Let me know how it works.

Thanks for replying! well i took the two files and put them in the main BG installation folder and it still isn't working but the error listing is slightly different. it says  error loading fotd/AASIM.cre

by the way im not sure, about the FotD folder in the same place, do you mean as in C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\FotDv107 ? because thats where i put the FotD folder.
oh and another thing it says now is Error Unix.Unix_error<20, "stat" "fotd/AASIM.cre

I'm sorry to be a pain but Im just not that good at working these things

No problem, I am glad it works - and I appreciate all feedback.
