Changing race/romance triggers
« on: May 04, 2007, 04:25:27 PM »
I'm an idiot! I didn't pay attention to the romance restrictions, and the character I'd been trying to romance Xan with is human! If I change her race now in Shadowkeeper will he notice me, or did he write me off permanently when he joined my party? What if I boot him, change race, and then add him to the party again?

Changing your race now is too late. He already decided he doesn't like you. Dropping him from the party and rejoining him won't help.

If you wanted, you might be able to change your race with SK and then manually set his match and romance variables.

Argh!

Can I just copy the Ajantis globals and replace "Ajantis" with "Xan" in the name? He doesn't have any listed all, so I can't just set the values. If I create:

X#XANROMANCEJOIN
X#XANROMANCEMATCH
X#XANROMANCECHECKMATCH
X#XANROMANCEACTIVE

And set all the values to 1, will that get things started okay?

No. Ajantis is a BG1 NPC Project mod, so his variables are going to be different than Xan's BG2 variables.

Are you playing Tutu BG1 NPC Project or are you playing BG2?

Oh, I'm useless. I'm playing BG1. Off to that forum!

For BG1: setting all these variables to 1 will get you only so far: several lovetalks branch for elves and half-elves only, and you'll likely have NO VALID REPLIES OR LINKS more than once. I'd opt for changing the race via ShadowKeeper.

For BG2: setting O#XanFriendship to 0 and O#XanRomanceActive to 1 or 2 (depending on which path you prefer) should do it. Or, of course, just start the game with a female elven character.

However, I should once again warn you against changing O#XanRomanceActive variable, if it is already set and is not equal to zero(1,2 or 3).

Thanks. I'll switch to an elf and forget about dual-classing her like I'd planned.
