BG1 (NON Tutu/BGT) Original Statrup Screen
« on: February 10, 2007, 12:59:11 PM »
Is there a way to restore the Original Baldur's Gate 1 startup screen? After installing TotSC it of course updates the startup screen to Tales of the Sword Cost. Other than Duh, don't install TotSC  :D I just was wondering if I could copy come files from the Bg1 CD that would change it back?

Anyone know? Or is this hardcoded into the exe? :/

One other question, in the startup screen music for BG1, is there a .ACM file of this music? I just want to convet to to a .wav to make it a ring tone from my phone. ?

Thank you!

The startup image is called START.MOS. After installing Baldur's Gate, you could make a copy of this file, install Tales of the Sword Coast and then put it into your override folder.

That song is called THEME.MUS. You can also replace it with a different song.

OK I just did a fresh install of Win XP.. installed Baldurs Gate... There is no file named START.MOS...? Again I am installing with the original 5 CD set. Perhaps it named differently?

It is inside ...\Data\Gui.bif. All files in the game are inside these archives, the override folder is used for patching. You can extract START.MOS using Near Infinity or DLTCEP.
