EzTutu and SoA_Tob Mods ?
« on: February 08, 2007, 09:26:46 PM »
I was wondering about mods installed in BG2 Soa_Tob prior to installing EzTutu ?

For example can BG2 Fixpack v2 be installed in BG2 before running EzTutu setup, if so what other mods could this be safe for?

Would be better to install the mods directly into EzTutu after setup?

One I am interested in is Divine Remix v5, so which is the best ways before or after?

I believe it's recommended you do the Tutu conversion with a clean install of both BG1 (and TotSC if applicable) and BG2 (and patches for both).

I have Tutu-ised games with modded BG2 installs - so far I've been lucky and no problems have arisen.

But you really need the Tutu gurus to answer this one.
"Some say that our destinies may be read in the stars, that the plans of the gods are revealed to those who but know where to look.  They speak it true but their location is false, for I have seen my destiny shining in your eyes" (Anomen, PPG NPC Flirt Pack)

"You know you're tired when you get up from the desk and the headset's still around your neck"

Right now, there are two answers :)

Tutu v4 can be run after BG2 Fixpack and even other non-WeiDU mods. I don't know if folks actually still do this, but I certainly did in the days before EasyTutu. It becomes pretty important to immedialely run Tutufix afterwards.

EasyTutu has very clear and specific instructions on this point. Macready *strongly* recommends installing over a fully patched, unmodded, unfixpacked, unanythinged install of both BG1 and BG2. Since his distribution drops a pre-bugfixed new override into place, it means that any mods on BG1 prior to installation will be blown away, and anything on the BG2 side fixed and used for the conversion will be untested (if it is picked up at all), which kinda misses Macready's goal of a clean, stable, known install platform.

Luckily, Macready is looking at adding fixes found necessary from the BG2 Fixpack into EasyTutu (and from the BG1 Fixpack discussion, I am sure). Currently, the most stable and bugfixed verion of Tutu existing is EasyTutu.

Bear my last post in mind when solving any BG1 NPC problems, cmorgan!

PS: Get the WeiDU log?

Basicily mods should be added after setup, I checked out the compatible list, it's a bit dated. Things like BG2 Tweakpack and Tutu specific mods should be fine, but about things like Divine remix v5, BG2 Banterpack and BG2 NPC's like Kesley or Edwin Romance?

Hello -

I was wondering about mods installed in BG2 Soa_Tob prior to installing EzTutu ?

For example can BG2 Fixpack v2 be installed in BG2 before running EzTutu setup, if so what other mods could this be safe for?

If you mean to ask if EasyTutu can be installed successfully from a modded BG2 parent installation, the answer is probably (as Silk has discovered).  However, I recommend starting from a clean BG2, and I will offer no help for any problems which might result from a pre-modded BG2 (in practice, so long as a mod doesn't patch the BG2 EXE in some way, you're probably fine).

If you are asking whether mods installed on BG2 prior to EasyTutu installation will automagically transfer over to EasyTutu: no.  This is by design -- one of the main goals of EasyTutu is to have everyone start with a stable and consistent platform, so I happily ignore the contents of your BG2 override and KEY file.
EasyTutu: Tutu installation made simple.

Kelsey and Edwin's romance are for BG2. I'm sure they'll install dandy, but you won't be able to actually play the content of either, since you'll only be able to access the BG portion of the game.

Divine Remix is also built with Tutu in mind (you can kit Branwen and Viconia, for example). In general, kit mods and tweak mods will probably work dandy on Tutu, whereas BG2 NPC, AI, and quest mods will probably install fine but have no effect on your game.

edit: Should probably add that a lot of the Tutu addicts have a bug current compatibility and install order thread over at G3.

Yep! And don't worry... as Macready said above, it *might* be fine. In fact, it is much easier to figure out what is wrong if something goes bad, because we can compare what you have to a. Macready's ersion and b. installed versions, and tell what is different.

Check out the Tutu State of the Modding Union over in general mod discussion at G3 for the current list of tested compatible mods, install order, and known troubles/workaraounds.   It has a full detailing of the abuse tweaking of  EasyTutu via mods.
