Looks like G3 has been generating too much SQL queries according to the error (I.E. they're getting too many visits).

No, it looks like their code is leaving open sessions.

Typical time for a query should be ~0.05 sec (max) - so if they are getting 50,000 active connections, I think their code is using something dumb like a transaction model for reads.

Or, it could be the host having issues with the SQL server and generating spurious error messages. :)

I see this evil spectre has reared its ugly head once again, unless it's just something local (though I don't get it with other sites).

EDIT: Nevermind - false alarm it seems (or perhaps a server reboot...).

EDIT2: Now it seems to be down again.  Pretty erratic, really.
