Fatigue? At all?
« on: January 28, 2007, 04:01:09 PM »
I'm now on day five. I've visited FAI, Beregost, and just reached Nashkel. No one is tired. I've never rested. I don't think any of the mods installed have affected this, nor can I find anything in the game files that looks unusual.

Has anyone else had wonky fatigue issues?

Sounds dumb, but you tried standing around for a little while, and let the fatigue trigger? I've not had this sort of problem.

No, the party is simply not fatigued. Checking the save game, my PC only has a fatigue score of 5 (it needs to be 7 before you get affected).

Standard fatigue for me is  Prologue, that first map, then back to Candlekeep, then on to second map. At that point everyone (all two of us :) ) usually scream for sleep and the fatigued icon pops on Imoen and <CHARNAME>. Only once running solo have I not had it pop before FAI, and I had made a direct beeline for J and K.

I get fatigue icons and complaints on a regular basis.

And now for something completely different-where's thw fatigue counter, and what dictates it? I've had people with 18 con whining about wanting to rest before 9 con people, and 17 strength people whining for rest before 9 strength (imoen).

No real reason for my wanting to know, I just do.

I believe it's (at least partially) random. In IWD1 (har har har), I slept in the Vale of Shadows, went back to Kuldahar, and when I got there (8 hours) my characters were already tired. On the other hand, I went from Kuldahar to the Dragon's Eye (a day and something) and didn't get the tired icon.

In BG1, I usually do all Candlekeep, explore completely the first two areas, and get the tired speech once I get to the FAI.

It does seem to be completely erratic.  I've gone further than CamDawg and never hit fatigue.  Then I've gone from one map where I've rested due to fatigue in some characters, to another like 8 hours away where it'll kick in again.  In my most extensive run, my PC (a half-orc barbarian with max CON if that matters) hardly ever got fatigued.  Then to add complications, Branwen always wanted to get fatigued but there must've been some BG1NPC component preventing her fatigue, 'cause she was romancing me or something (guess I wasn't wearing her out enough, har har).

Might be a BG phenomenon. As a bit of light entertainment yesterday, I watched the 30-minute BG speedrun of an unmodded game. No editorial commentary on how bored I had to be to find that entertaining. I wondered how it was possible, since it takes me longer than that to get to the FAI.

During the speedrun, the PC never slept. Ever. He was fatigued the whole time, but didn't hit the rest button once.

IIRC, he slept just before the final battle  :)
also, since he basically would always remain hidden in shadows, backstab/cast a spell and run away, a penalty to dice rolls isn't that serious as it would be in straightforward battle.

I know there's a trick how to not let fatique kick in: to save and reload upon entering every new area. Then, indeed, one's party will never tire. Might be the case with some tireless  parties.

As berelinde said, though, it works for me all right - Xan, Kivan and Viconia start complaining within a day or earlier.

:) Nah, I didn't add anything like this, though it'd be fun(to add precisely the reverse after a certain banter at rest, I mean).

Maybe you didn't, but someone must've.  The fatigued icon would appear on her portrait and immediately dialogue will trigger and she says something like 'I can't possibly be tired by your side' and it goes away.  I forget what the exact dialogue is - it's been a while, but I'll make a note if it happens again (I just assumed it was expected behaviour).

That's my flirt, yes. But no, there're no effects attached - check the dialogue file, it's @632. Must be some romance magic! :)
