BG1tutu Map Graphics
« on: January 25, 2007, 07:28:15 AM »
Hello. First off, I think this mod is one of the greatest things to ever happen. I am an Infinity Engine fanboy, and I totally dig what you have done here. The only one thing I noticed was the map graphics. I think with such a lovely transition, the map should be updated as well, and that's where I come in. I am willing to take the map and update it to more of the "BG2" style and add color. Before I do, though, I have a few questions about the map in general.

I. It seems like a standard "anchor point" style of map, so the background shouldn't make a difference, other than size, correct?

II. What is the file type of the area images?

III. Is there a place where I can go on my game disk to acess the map images, or is there a way someone can send them to me so I can begin this asap?

I am really eager to start this, so any information would be great. Thanks in advance.

~K

Hello -

Tutufix already includes a component which updates the world map.  That updated map is also a part of the base EasyTutu distribution.

Try this.  I added some space on the west side of the existing map to place links for off-map areas.  There is also a theoretical project we started discussing to add space on the other map edges for mods that add new areas.  If you're interested in helping with that, feel free to have a look. :)  The first place to start would be getting something like Near Infinity.  Then open up the WMP folder with that and look at WORLDMAP.WMP.  I believe you can export that to other formats you can edit (though if you have Windows, DLTCEP is a little handier for that).
