same problem I had

current game I am now packing almost 100 shells, got to love those bag's of holding,
makes for some fast levels at 975 each.

Weidu log is also posted in that thread, I could try looking through my area file when I get home, see if I
can find anything in there.

On second thoughts, I suppose it's not much of a problem - I just CTRL+Y most of them (sometimes I find about 5 in the exact same spot!)  leaving about 2 to kill.  I suppose it's ample compensation for some of the so-called glitches the Tutu people unfortunately decided needed fixing, that gave the game more character and generally made it more fun (like selling 10 ankheg shells and also getting your ankheg armour).

Hi,

The last time this came up I suspected a mod's influence, because you were using a mod which specifically stated it tampered with spawn rates.

If either of you care to pass along some files from your EasyTutu override folder, I'll take a look.

I think you must have me mixed up with someone else, as far as i know i don't have any mods installed which tamper with spawn rates.

Hello -

OK, I am proceeding under the assumption that my spawn scripts are to blame here.  Having thought about it, it's possible that the range checks performed by any ankheg spawn managers (intended to prevent spawns when previous spawns still live) are not working due to that hide in the ground thing that ankhegs do.

So, anyway, if you want to experiment with a potential solution:

* Visit FW1400.
* Kill or CTRL-Y any ankhegs on the map.
* Save your game.
* Exit out of the game completely.
* Place this updated script file in your EasyTutu override folder.
* Try to recreate the problem with the new script in place.

The new intended behavior is for ankhegs to spawn once and only once at any given spawn point.  Let me know how it goes.  Happy Thanksgiving.

I did as you asked in your previous post & all seems to be working okay, I was only getting 2 Ankhegs at a time after adding your script file.

Just a thought, will this have any effect on other areas which have Ankhegs in, ie random encounters, when you exit Nashkel mines & the Ice Isle in TotSC.

Was that you?  You didn't identify yourself using your forum nick, so it was hard to be sure.  Thanks for taking the time.

They were of use insofar as there was nothing suspicious in either of them, which further cast the shadow of blame on the ankheg spawn scripts.

OK.  Although once a spawn point spawns ankhegs after the new script is in play, that should be the last time you see ankhegs at that particular spawn point.  The actual number of ankhegs is tied to the game difficulty setting you use (if you are getting two, you must be playing at Core Rules IIRC).

If I did in fact guess the cause of the original bug correctly, what was happening was the following:

* You visit the map
* Ankhegs spawn
* You leave without killing them
* You return later after a number of in-game days have passed
* The spawn managers, failing to detect the last round of ankhegs due to their hide-in-ground behavior, spawn another set
  (the ankheg hide-in-ground behavior is why this problem was confined to ankhegs only)
* Cycle repeats until you actually wander by the spawn point and encounter the ankheg swarm

Some ankhegs in the game are not spawned -- they are literally defined as actors in the ARE.  Those ankhegs are totally unaffected.

Any ankhegs spawned by the EasyTutu spawn system will only spawn once per spawn point using this updated script.  If it seems to correct the problem for everyone, I'll assume I guessed the problem correctly and will roll the updated script into the next EasyTutu release.

As much as I love to blame others for problems, I don't think I can point fingers at BG1NPC here.  I ran across that bit of script code in the sample area script sent to me by Alboy, and I can't see it having anything to do with the ankheg madness.

You are correct in the asumption that i was using core rules.
I have finished my current Easytutu game & will be playing again as soon as the next update of Easytutu is released.
No matter which  RPG i play i always come back to the Baldur's Gate saga, it can't be beaten in my oppinion.
