Stubborn Windows Directory
« on: April 08, 2004, 08:36:21 PM »
Does anyone know how to disable the "My eBooks" directory from being continually created under the My Documents folder?  I'm currently running Windows XP SP1a.

I came across this article, but I don't want to disable *all* of the "special folders."

Oops... sorry.  I had it in the first time I typed the message, but I accidentally clicked to another site and lost what I had.

Anyway, I'm using Windows XP Pro SP1a.

Why would you want to delete that folder?

ah XP.. I had a hunch.. why doesn't MS just clone the Mac and be done with it.  They keep moving towards this automated (idiot-proof) system.  Some of like to remain in control of those little things.

as an aside: do you like XP better than 98, Ice?

Try uninstalling or disabling the Microsoft Reader program.  Would give more details but I don't have it on my XP box.

Infinitely moreso, yes.  XP, while certainly not without its own flaws, has been much more stable and enjoyable than 98 was for me.

Ah, thanks.  I don't recally specifically installing that, but it might have been something Windows Update slipped by me.

Incase that doesnt work, I got this.. though what was said sounds significantly better.

You just need to find whatever program uses these 'E-Books' and delete in or change the creation directory.

Strange. I personally found XP a bit too clumsy, so I switched back to my favorite one (win2000). :-X
