Some characters moving much slower than others
« on: July 29, 2006, 01:34:21 PM »
I'm playing TuTu, and I recently decided to reform my party. I got 3 new NPCs in my party, but I quickly noticed something was wrong. The 3 new characters seem to walk about 3/4 as fast as my 3 original characters. I have no idea what's wrong or how to fix it.

I opened the savegame with ShadowKeeper and all of the characters have a base speed of 0 (default).

Hmmm. I tried kicking everyone out of the party and inviting them back, and now they all walk slower. Everyone except the main character that is: he seems to move about 1/4 faster than everyone else.

Hello -

// Recently Uninstalled: ~SETUP-TUTUFIX.TP2~ #0 #7 // Walking Speeds (uninstalled this to see if it would help. It didn't.

This is still at the heart of your problem.  It's a bit of a problematic component.  I believe that ultimately the best way to use it would be to install it dead last, since I imagine that would avoid the some-guys-faster-than-others syndrome.  I'm afraid I am unable to offer any advice on how to remove its effects from your current game, though.
EasyTutu: Tutu installation made simple.

Yes, I had that problem with walking speeds, but it only affected the pc: everyone walked at a normal speed but him, and he crawled.

When I did a fresh install for something else, I did not install the walking speeds component. I might have lost the feel of trudging along, but at least the rest of the party is not forever waiting for <CHARNAME> to catch up.

Well, the master "how to fix this" post is at B3, whicjh is down, so to cut to the chase (if you don't understand, just ask in this thread).

To use Walking Speeds best, install it at the end of your install. (It still has some wierd consequences on Polymorph Self spells and Slow, but Haste, Grease, etc. will work fine. I always play with it when I am not testing something.)

Once you have uninstalled it, the Save still has all of the characters you have met saved in the old state (and any areas you have visited asr saved with the changes as well). You can't do much about areas you have visited that doesn't involve some pretty heavy (and silly) surgery, but you can fix your joined NPC's easily.

Open ShadowKeeper, load the savegame you wnat to fix, and look under the tab "affects". There you will see a line that says something like

0x00B0  -3

Clear that line from each one of the characters (check them all).

Voila - default BG2 walking speeds are restored.

CamDawg and SimDing0 are looking into repairing this behavior and moving the component to the BG2 Tweak Pack' s first non-beta version.
