Author Topic: What fingers are you typing with right now? (Read 4747 times)

*Back* on topic... all of 'em. I was taught keyboarding and have never really fallen out of practice. If I really, really want to, I can hit approximately 150 wpm. I rarely fall below 90 when fully concentrating on the task at hand.

I type with mostly my right index, ring, and thumb. I do some typing with my left index and ring. I hit space with either thumb or whichever finger is closest. Back when I was in keyboarding class and practiced every day, I hit 200wpm on a fairly regular basis for our tests. But copying text and typing what's in your head are two different entities entirely. I guess for chatting and paper-writing I type slightly faster than average. I don't really know, though. I wholeheartedly doubt I can do 200wpm any more.

. . . I don't know where the keys are in relation to my fingers, I know where the keys are in relation to the board. I think it's much better, because I can type one-handed or peck-type with an object much faster than a homekeyer can ever hope to.

I don't have the slightest idea how many words I can type. I only know that I have to look at teh keyboard as I type.

Here you can test who quickly you type. I used to type like a pro but I've managed to forget most of it.

Thank you Aran, for rescuing this thread from the depths it was sinking to. The topic question was originally a bitter protest at censorship, and the kinds of threads that are becoming prevalent in cyberspace due to over-moderation. However, as I am now finished being cross about that subject, and am greatly interested in avoiding any more revelations from the bedrooms of members, (sorry BR, looking at you) I am going to say that since membership at PPG, my ability to type with more than one finger has greatly improved - to the point where six year olds are impressed by my typing speed and dexterity. Let's all take Blackwing's typing test now.

Tried said test once, got 134 WPM. So my estimate/memory of my skills was pretty much right on.

i am a terrible typist. my boss once asked me to type a letter and didnt understand why i put it in my purse to take home. he said "but you type forms all the time" and i told him i do them all on my computer at home . i am a nurse, not a secretary. spell check is my friend !
