just a random thouhgt but humor me ok?

if you are really offended by talk of porn or sex (and i dont equate the two)  why would you bother reading a thread that makes reference to porn or thread clearly in its title?

There is a distinct difference between a thread about porn, and a thread containing porn.

Also, as I recall, it wasn't limited to just that thread.

just to clarify, that question wasnt directed to anyone in particular, the "you" was a general "you".  i guess i should have said " if someone is offended......"

And there's also a distinct difference between a thread about porn and half the forum being filled with topics in which Joe talks about his dick and BR reminds us she likes licking out girls. If you want to exchange tales of what you enjoy in the bedroom then by all means get together on some IM system and have a blast, but please don't look for excuses to deviate every single topic here into the same boring routine, because that's clearly what's been happening.

I now suggest that a thread talking about why the last thread wasn't so great is also inadequate use of our time.

This is not a discussion.

Exactly.

if you are really offended by talk of porn or sex (and i dont equate the two)  why would you bother reading a thread that makes reference to porn or thread clearly in its title?

It's not a question of being offended.  It's a question of posting like an idiot or not.  For example, the thread which started with the somewhat interesting question of...

...degenerated into this...

Okay new question for all the ladies: Anal, yes or no?

It stopped being about being about a poll question & turned into "Teeheeheheehhe."

I don't know what people expected to read in a thread about porn. Apparently not porn.

The initial question was about porn in a theoretical sense, while the thread degenerated into a thread about porn in the real sense, which, OK, no big deal, just that this isn't the place for that.  Just PM Blood Raven & ask for a date, or something, & spare the rest of us.

Oh, he's absolutely correct - I just wonder why he never posts anything other than critiques. His comments this time at least are not as rude as usual, which is a good start. I think he's hilariously funny - unfortunately he's not amused by me.

FWIW, I do post about other stuff (ok, last was self-serving, & I just picked posts I knew I could find, not the most recent ones) - I just don't post on EFCB that much, except when it becomes teh suck, admittedly.

that makes sense (and i am not being sarcastic) .  i have a tendency to skip thru the topics myself, so i dont always keep up with the loop.  especially when i see something potentially offensive in the topic.  i dont think i would like to read a thread with a very inoffensive topic that turned out to contain gross stuff either.  so thanks, Vel for answering my  question and not flaming me.

But WHY is a thread talking about why the last thread wasn't so great an inadequate use of time?  A new thread is in order to explore this tantalizing question.

Exactly.

What porn did that thread contain?

I'm not sure if a thread about porn can degenerate in the first place, and in any case the development of the discussion toward personal bedroom preferences was in the same vein as the initial topic.

A discussion about sex, no matter how explicit, is not pornography. As far as this being the place for the occasional thread about sex, I'll leave that to JC.

I don't want a date with her. She was just the most responsive.

By most responsive, do you mean the *only one responsive at all? The interest from other parties seemed low enough to warrant the two of you taking it to PM and sparing the rest of us the agony.

*This may not be true. I've forgotten the thread, and probably only skimmed it anyways.

There were a few others discussing bedroom preferences. And in any event it wasn't something I was so interested to learn that I just had to send private messages. I'm pretty sure that might have flicked the BR's stalker arrow, anyways.
