Minister Lloyd in the Umar Hills - Cabin acquisition
« on: January 24, 2006, 07:45:51 PM »
Not a mod issue but this really P***s me off. When you complete the Shade Lord quest he offers you Merella'scabin w/o no strings attached. But if you don't do the subsequent quests you're locked out.  And never a word is said to him about his going back on his word.  After all, CHARNAME didn't AGREE to be the ranger for Umar Hills, or am I misinterpreting it.

I always thought you only got the cabin as your ranger stronghold. I'm pretty sure he offers you the position of ranger, and that's why you get the cabin. Doing the ranger quests and keeping the cabin/getting locked out if you don't would be fair in that case.

I recently noticed that in the journal entry for giving you the cabin, he's called Mayor Wainwright (one for the G3 fixpack). This made me realize that "Minister Lloyd" is a play on the name of a town in Alberta, Lloydminster. Wainwright is also a town in Alberta. Oh, those crazy Biowareans.

I didn't think that he offered the cabin with no strings attached. I thought it was contingent on you agreeing to be the ranger-protector for the village.

It seems to me that you have opportunity to screw up pretty much any of the strongholds through being inattentive to your duties, so I don't see why the ranger should be treated any differently.
