Universal Weapons for All Classes
« on: December 10, 2005, 12:25:59 PM »
I really like the concept but, this has bugged me for while so I finally decided to ask the question.

Does 'Universal' mean every class has access to every weapon type or are there still some restrictions?

Because (and this may be the fault of other mods I have installed), I don't necessarily have access to every single weapon proficiency for every class type during character generation.

And if there are some restrictions would it be possible to add a chart to the ReadMe that illustrates what those restrictions are.

Thanks,

There'll certainly still be at least one restriction, namely monks not being able to use two-handed weapons.  This is due to a limitation in the engine, in that it'll crash if you try to give a two-handed weapon to a monk.

What's the reason for this? Lack of sprites?

It's because he has an unremovable item equipped in his off-hand weapon slot, which IIRC is needed to allow him to kill enemies whilst unarmed.  I guess a mod could remove this item, but then he'd have to wield a weapon to be able to kill.

Just out of curiosity, does it mean that a monk can only actually kill with an off-hand?

No.  He can't even use off-hand weapons :).

It means the invisible, unremovable item is what makes fist damage lethal for a monk. Other classes can only use their fists to beat someone into unconsciousness, but can't kill with them.
