BG2 Animations to BG1 troubles
« on: October 14, 2005, 11:54:07 PM »
What I'm trying to do is get one simple animation of the Black Dragon from BG2 into BG1 for my mod.  Vlad's tutorial about this was very informative, however one part he mentions I cannot do because the file "ANISD.IDS" does not exist in BG1 AFAIK, so I could not extract it and use the file.  I do understand though that the .BAM files contain the different movements of the creature, so I extracted all of the Black Dragon's .BAMs but do not know what else to do next.  Any help on this?

Also I opened up "ANIMATE.IDS" in BG1 and I couldn't find a placeholder for a possible replacement animation like the tutorial said.

Is it even possible to append animations to BG1 from other IE games?

Thanks as always

BG1 hasn't got the room for additional animations like the other games do, since it was made first.  You're out of luck when it comes to adding avatars to it.

(But of course, modding for Tutu would let you use any number of the BG2 animations!)

So Tutu does allow you to change the animations even with BG1 not allowing any more names to the ANIMATE.IDS file?  I have downloaded Tutu (in fact, one of the first things I downloaded when I started playing around with the IE) is it possible you could explain how to do this with Tutu installed?  Right now, I'm getting nowhere with it, besides constantly reinstalling BG1 and BG2 every time I edit important files.  :P

The same way you'd add animations to BG2, since Tutu is BG2's engine and mechanics with BG1's content.

Thanks, Im glad the whole process is streamlined like this by Tutu.  It helps minimize some of the problems I have as a newbie fledgling where this is concerned.  Again and again I am impressed how this community has kept IE game modding alive and kicking.  I'm glad I'm not the only one who has an interest.  Its very cool.  :)

Thanks
