The Sims is a fun diversion, nuthin' wrong with that. Some people think it's too "girly", I guess, because you don't go around blowing things up .

I don't think Interplay's going to exist for much longer, even on paper. And I see no reason that a developer besides Bioware couldn't make a great BGIII. Look at all the wonderful mods, many of which are much better than what Bioware came out with in the first place.
Yes. To me, the core of a good BG3 would be an engaging story with developed characters who talk to you, one another, and the world around them in interesting fashion. Bioware has demonstrated skill at this, but, as you mention, there are others who can hack it as well.
