Lilarcor modifications.
« on: August 31, 2005, 11:30:41 PM »
Hey.

I'm a bit new at the modding scene, and I've been trying all night to do some seemingly simple things to the Lilarcor weapon.  Because I run through the game solo, the companionship of an annoying yet heart-warming talking sword is desirable.  However, the cold reality is that I absolutely require a weapon that can backstab in order to play the game in an appreciable way.  The obvious problem is that Lilarcor happens to be a two handed weapon.

I used Near Infinite and made some great progress.  I'm able to dual wield lilarcor, have it still talk, but while attempting to backstab it still gives the unfortunate error of "You can't backstab with this weapon, dumbass... stop trying to creep around with a big giant sword twit."  Or at least that's how I interpret it.

It's as if there's some flag somewhere that I'm missing, something that needs to be checked for it to backstab... something I'm missing.

My question, I put to you, the superior modders, is thus:

How can I get a backstabbing weapon that utilizes the Lilarcor script to shout various things along my journey?

I really don't care if I tie the script to some other backstabbing weapon, make it so lilarcor can backstab, whatever.  I just want a backstabbing weapon that says stuff =D  If using your modding prowess and doing the small flag check or whatever and sending the file is easier, my email is jamesmw@gmail.com and if you would send me the file I'd appreciate that too.  I'd rather do the change myself but whatever is easiest for the person replying is best.

Also, the random things he says, like, "Can we go whack something now?", where are these located?  I'd like to uhh, add a few things.  Not the actual dlg stuff, where you 'converse' with him, the non-instigated text messages that come up.  There's a few things I would be a little less lonely if he said...

Anyway, I'm sure someone here knows enough about this rather strange request to help me... Thanks in advance.

A talking backstabbing weapon? Now that is a weird piece of equipment. :P

Sword: I think you got the angle wrong on this one. Look where his shoulder blades are.
Mildly unamused assassin: Shhh!
Sword: I am just trying to help you out here. We all want to be our best don't we?.
MUA: STFU
Sword: You know I know what I am talking about since I spend a couple of hundred years in a dragon's hoard after my previous owner didn't recognize that you cannot backstab a dragon.
MUA: Pulese!!
Sword: Say! You are not holding anything in your off-hand, are you? I don't want our chances diminished by some lowly +1 dagger or something which has a fancy handle and nothing more.
MUA: If you are not quiet immediately I will stick you some place else and make a run for it, I swear.
..
..
Sword: Is it your feet or his that smell that horrifying?

.. Oh did I say that out lout. Iknow, i know, shhh and sneaky and all, but this is just revolting even for a stealthy blade like me.
Oger: Huh?

You can backstab with all weapons which can be used by Thieves.
So the easiest way to do what you want would be to edit the flags of Lilarcor's "Unusable by" section and remove the checks for thieves.

Lilarcor's lines are within baldur.bcs, a script that always runs. The section reads
Code: [Select]
IF
Delay(600)
CombatCounter(0)
OR(6)
HasItemEquipedReal("sw2h14",Player1) // Lilarcor
HasItemEquipedReal("sw2h14",Player2) // Lilarcor
HasItemEquipedReal("sw2h14",Player3) // Lilarcor
HasItemEquipedReal("sw2h14",Player4) // Lilarcor
HasItemEquipedReal("sw2h14",Player5) // Lilarcor
HasItemEquipedReal("sw2h14",Player6) // Lilarcor
THEN
RESPONSE #10
...
...

... and so on.
You would have to add your line to the TLK and then add a new line of RESPONSE - DisplayStringHeadOwner() to the script, where you insert the number of your new TLK string.
