I find that as I'm getting older I do find it somewhat uncomfortable seeing young people in extremely revealing attire.(Although half of the discomfort is wondering if they feel chilly.
) I don't think it is just a present culture thing though as I distinctly remember at age 15 - 16 wearing short skirts and tight, cleavage showing tops. It was a sure-fire way of getting into nightclubs underage, which I felt strong peer pressure to do.
Unfortunately I also remember the way I dressed being interpreted that if I showed it off then it was okay to touch, which it most certainly was not. In a utopian society perhaps we could all wear what we wanted and have no problems, however in this one there is always someone that will respond badly to revealing clothing.
My biggest concern about the present culture is that 11 - 12 year olds are dressing in an adult fashion. The messages and peer pressures to reach sexual maturity are very strong these days. unfortunately I do not think it is as much about confidence as it is about fear. Let children have their childhoods back, I say!!
