Take a look at the large number of bug reports you find here, and a decent proportion of them will be for just such an issue.  It seems that the BG1 installer is somewhat buggy, and will skip files, and not report any problems, until the player's game starts crashing, or their tutu installer goes fubar.  Rather than repeatedly sending people to the thread I listed to check to see what they are missing, I thought it would be easier to have the installer check.

Also, I'm not a big fan of the BP installation method, which is rather horrendous, and from what I've heard, the Tutu installer has a passing similiarity (or it did in the past).  I figure anything that makes the mod more accessible is a good thing.

Noted.  I've coded it up now so that we check for the OS type, and if it's something other than Win32, we skip the registry stuff.

Thanks!  ;D

@Caedwyr If bg1 installer does not give error messages, then you're probably right.

Just came back from my holiday. Well done! I'll try it after it goes out of beta.

Question, generally I don't install mods in registry indicated directory, but in a cloned directory, can I still edit the tp2 to indicate the correct directory?

You can type the path into the installer.

This might be a silly question: will tutufix part of v6 work with v4?

I think the issue with bad BG1 installs is often scratched CDs as opposed to the user doing anything wrong. That said, it might be worth having a '.BIF purity test' tool someone can run on their BG1 installation to check that they're all present and the right size, or something.

I completely agree with you, Andyr. It was something I suggested in one of my first posts in this forum long time ago. Perhaps the guys will do something about this... :pirate

So, we're a month at least after the  beta release, any progress report?

Quick question: Is BG1TuTu compatible with BG:TOS? (In case you don't know what that is, it's the re-release of BG&TotSC on 3 CDs + a bonus soundtrack disk.)
You see, the reason I ask is that BG:TOS shows a different (higher) version number than the version number of the latest official BG:TotSC patch.

Yes, it will work fine.  Many people, including myself, only have The Original Saga.

Hello, guys!

All have been silent for quite some time in this section and I was wondering if there is anyone, save japheth himself, that has access to those local fixes of his. Since we never know when he will be back, wouldn't be good in this case to release a second beta with the local fixes ? Some of them are pretty important... ;)

No one else has access to any changes he made to the source, but we're working on version 16 of Tutufix to address unresolved issues.

Thank you very much for your reply, Ghrey and let me ask you one more thing, please...Once TuTufix 16 is out, can we say that TuTu 4+TuTufix 16 is at the moment a much better alternative to TuTu 6 beta ?

I am asking because I wonder what TuTu 6 beta might be better in once you guys will fix more stuff in TuTufix 16...After all TuTu 6 Beta comes with version 14 of the TuTufix and since then you had made several steps ahead, right ?  ;)

Actually, I'm designing Tutufix16 for use with Beta 6, so that'll be the "definitive" version once it's done.  You'll still have to download version 6 and tutufix 16 separately, though.

It might be a good idea to release a version of v6 without fixpack included (unless 16 will build on 14) there're still people on modems out there.

PS. Can't wait.

None of us has access to changing version 6 except japheth.  I'm about as pleased about that as you are, believe me.

Meaning you don't have technical means to do so or the permition?

Even if we had the technical means, japh is of course the only one to have it on his computer, and he's not around, so.

No, technical means.
Why can't you remove tutufix from tutu6? All it files seems to be separate still and run at the end... so why not making a thinner download when tutufix 16 is out? If you don't mind my being curious.
