Infinitely more trouble even if it's doable. I'm sure there's supposed to be some condition for them opening (I seriously doubt the original intent was to have them just randomly open and close), but there's no clue at all to what that condition might be, so I don't see much point in spending any time on it.

It's not something I'll be able to mess with, so I'm going to move it out of the Workroom.  If anyone feels up to it, though, go right ahead.
