BG1Tutu Fixpack v2 Released!
« on: April 06, 2004, 12:02:22 PM »
The Tutu Fixpack is designed to remedy issues with BG1tutu which remained unresolved
in the latest core release. A detailed list of fixes may be found below.

The pack is divided into four distinct components:
- Core Bugfixes: This component resolves bugs in the game, but does not make any changes
which are subjective or not justifiable given BG1tutu's nature as a strict conversion.
- Rebalanced Familiars: This component adjust the hit points of familiars to be more
appropriate for BG1 level characters (or, at least, in SimDing0's opinion). Each familiar
now has only 12 hit points, instead of 24, meaning that a bonus of 6 is granted to mages
upon summoning.
- Summoning Cap Removal: True to BG1, this component removes the summoning cap from the
game. However, it remains a separate component due to the controversial balancing issues
it introduces.
- Organised Journal Entries: This component causes journal entries to be added to the
appropriate sections of the journal, rather than all being placed in the Info section.
However, note that while an entry may be recorded in the "Done Quests" section, other
entries will not be erased when quests are completed. Thanks to Andyr for providing this
component!

The list of core bugfixes is as follows:
- XP loss on starting a new game now less visible.
- XP cap becomes that of BG1. (CamDawg)
- Missing Gorion line restored.
- Bhaalspawn abilities displayed correctly. (Ghrey)
- Player is no longer visible in Gorion's death cutscene at 1024x768.
- Dream and override scripts assigned to all NPCs correctly. (Andyr)
- Snares now work.
- Final save may no longer crash. (Ghrey)
- Weapon breakage is in. (CamDawg)
- Starting hit points are no longer such a disaster. (Ghrey)
- End movie will play successfully. (Ghrey)
- Wand of Frost uses a nice projectile and has a sensible description.
- Drizzt does not attack gnolls until player nearby.
- Faldorn's "Summon Dread Wolf" no longer crashes the game.
- Tiax's "Summon Ghast" summons a Ghast instead of a skeleton.
- Cloakwood 2 no longer crashes for some people.
- Bats no longer have foot circles.
- Undroppable items can no longer be picked up in Durlag's Tower.
- MetMendas global now set correctly (original BG1 bug).
- Error message no longer displayed for non-existent creature spawn in AR0800.
- Greater Wolfwere regenertaion fixed.
- Grael no longer dies before the PC reaches him.
- No longer a second final save which was previously crashing the game.

Some bugs have not yet been fixed in this version, but should be in a later release:
- Spawn points work appallingly badly. Tricky to fix, but WILL be done sometime.
- Boots of Speed cause jerky animation. I don't believe this can be fixed, sadly.
- Impossible to talk to commoners when they are charmed. I really want to get this
one sorted, but it's not easy.

Has Icelus updated his site yet? I went there and the download still says V1. I'll just use another mirror.

What do you mean by saying:

"Summoning Cap Removal: True to BG1, this component removes the summoning cap from the
game. However, it remains a separate component due to the controversial balancing issues
it introduces" = When I want to summon a creatre, the scroll will generate only one monster (like BG2) rather the 8 (like BG1-Vanilla) ?

"Spawn points work appallingly badly" = Monsters appear only once on the current map ?

It's good to see a V2 for downloading. I think I can't wait again for a V3 because most big bugs are corrected...
Thank you very much for your spare time and your hard work.

In the BG2 engine, you can only have a maximum of 5 monsters summonned at once. Summonning Cap Removal removes this, so you can summon as many as you want, as was the case in BG1.

The problem with the spawn points is that the monster spawning wasn't responding to party size, so you'd often get ridiculously tough spawns. It's tricky to fix this, however.

Thanks for your quick reply :)

Note:

- Do you think is it possible to add or to make a conversion all Tutu's items (_*.*) -> BG2's items (*.*) on the Tutu's final save ?
- Just because I want to keep the items that I collected in BG1-tutu in BG2 by dropping them on the ground before the game really starts.

I'm not particularly concerned at fixing issues that only arise through cheating, to be honest. It'd be a lot of work for very little real gain. On the other hand, one of the things I should do is fix the items that legitimately get imported into BG2 when you bring a character across (pantaloons, etc).

If you want to cheat, just use ShadowKeeper or the CLUAConsole. It's much less of a hassle...
