Greataxes Animation?
« on: June 07, 2005, 11:53:34 AM »
Ok, greataxes appear only in IWD2, but moving them to BG2 is fairly easy (and is done by one mod) the trouble is they use halabard animation and the look of a dwarf swinging a halabard is pissing me off... so I was wandering would it be possible to create new&proper animation? And is somebody skilled and nice enough out there?

I think the number of frames required for making a new animation is something along the lines of 1440.  I could be misremembering, but it's some ridiculously high number, anyways.  Good luck with that. :)

Hell that explains why IWD2 developers were that lazy and used halaberd one...  ;D Anyway I don't think (but who knows) that guys at BIOWARE did all those by hand, it should be possible to generate the "middle-ones" from a much smaller number of key frames.

Creatures in the IE games were originally 3D models, and were presumably converted to sprites by a program capable of generating the correct frames automatically.

So, do we a have a 3d modeller who could do that?

Well, someone called Worm did import some 3d critters from NWN to bg2.
So this (converting 3d models to bg2) is possible and already done.

well some one @DLTC is making, made, or has given up on a minitor. the problem is that importing ready made frames and converting is much less time consuming than creating them from scratch. Also I do not think that the WoRm is taking requests tho I could be wrong. Anyway he has been given ftp space @ blackwyrmlair, fitting no?
