I think it would loose the scope, if his boys were anything, but plain soldiers with the odd special mercenary put in for good measure, but it doesn't take much more to keep the peasants down, so I doubt he would be able to mount a crusade for this cause.

I never found out who the Hidden really is and he is not considered Unfinished Business AFAIK, sorry.

@Firkraag and his goons: Yes, that is what makes it ironic.

Sure, but so as to not stand out he may want to hire a couple of bodyguards to keep up appearances.

Edit: The Hidden is a mind flayer.

Well, but other than killing his two obvious enemies he does not get a lot of plot coverage. Does he show up at least in that other dungeon with the other very sekrit MFs? (I need to check my games more thoroughly)

Nope that's the only original quest he turns up in... though a couple of mods-in-progress will feature new Hidden-related quests.

Well then, it is possible to make his troops stronger; it is unlikely that Farthie Ji-chan is a warrior of much skill himself, [/img]

Out of curiosity, why do you say this? Because he's a bit of an idiot? Plenty of decent warriors are less than brilliant. Because he's old? No older than Keldorn, I imagine. Because he's a noble? For all we know, he *earned* that title through millitary service (I know that Forgotten Realms != midieval Europe, but noble lines have to come from *somewhere*...), or conquered some or all of his current lands. Because he's decadent? Isaea strikes me as more decadent than his dad, actually.

Again, I'm not saying that Lord R *must* be a good warrior. But I don't see any reason why he *can't*.

I believe Roenall says at the funeral that his noble line was started by the old tradition of a fighter taking over a keep when the lord died.

Now, at last, the masks had fallen away.  The strings of the puppets had become visible, and the hands of the prime mover exposed.  Most ironic of all was the last gift that Raziel had given me, more powerful than the sword that now held his soul, more acute even than the vision his sacrifice had accorded me - the first bitter taste of that terrible illusion:  Hope.

Actually, that was the Curstwerds of Muraan whose line was started by a weapon master taking over somebody else's keep.  From a line of Lord Farthie's at the funeral if the PC has the Keep stronghold.  "Of course; a fine tradition.  I know many a name that was started in that way...the Curstwerds of Muraan for example.  I am glad to see you follow..."

No account of the founding of the Roenal house is given that I know of.  Nor the deArnises either for that matter.

Hmmm… You have a point, Belboz. Indeed, even though I remember no indication that Farthie Ji-chan was ever in the military, but… Isea, despite being the heir to his father’s lands, DOES serve in Athkalta guard, and it is logical to assume that Farthie Ji-chan also served in Athkalta guard in his youth.

However, I doubt that either of them saw any more or less serious action, if they saw any action at all, that’s it. They likely received their ranks by the virtue of their noble heritage (or, more likely, coin), rather then earning them through their actions. And considering that Athkalta guard seem to prefer taking bribes rather then drawing steel (not such a big surprise, with Shadow Thieves all but openly running Athkalta)… Yes, I have no doubt that both Farthie Ji-chan and Isea saw very little action indeed.

Well, at least Isea strikes me as being smarter then Farthie Ji-chan, and I suspect that he may be a fighter/mage, rather then common fighter. At least, he always (if I remember correctly, that's it) appears to be without any armor, even when he is “on duty” (like the duty of arresting Nalia). So, either he is a fighter/mage, or he a complete incompetent, who doesn’t expect to find himself and any fights, and thus, never prepares himself for one. But personally, I find the first option more likely.

And besides, I made the point before: <CHARNAME> and co. are very experianced having literally killed several armies worth of monsters and demons. They also pack alot of heavily enchanted weaponry and armour.

He doesn't show up there, but IIRC there's a letter there referring to him.
(I'm assuming it's a him, because it looked like a him when human. I actually have no idea what Illithid sexes are like, and actually, I'd rather *not* know too much about it.

Well, he might be a Fighter/Mage, or perhaps he is a Kensai. Even if so, he is a noble and seems reluctant to deal out damage unless needed to.

Isaea: It can speak! Nalia have trained you well. Oh, did I provoke you? Your reaction will be violent, though. On your first move I will have my guard cut you down to pie..

Something like that. Arrogant noble.

IT WAS THE BUTLER, he seems too friggin high level to leave out, make im a MIND FLAYER, we don't get enouph of the attic mind fleyer plot and you could tie in, COME ON, HE'S NOT HUMAN!
sorry,
but I really do feel that this is worth persueing, I would,

and if you disagree I have one thing to say
HE'S THE BUTLER!!!

I couldn't understand half of what your said.

Yeah, Roenall is just a lackey for the butler, who secretely is a demilich, and wants to take over Nalia's keep for the Twisted Rune.
