It was a risk, using a technical metaphor, but I felt it was illustrative.

Neutral

A neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. She doesn’t feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most neutrality is a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil. After all, she would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, she’s not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. The common phrase for neutral is "true neutral." Neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion.

The test said me or my character, whichever you choose to believe it refers to is chaotic good, but I truly believe I'm more Chaotic neutral. I do whatever I want at whatever time. Once I even cast heal and harm at the same time on a peasent with two of my characters, plus I go on killing sprees everynow and then and I go on legendary quests all the time.(Think the quest to download The Darkest Day on a 56k modem)

I sure as anything ain't Chaotic good..... >:( >:( >:(

I've taken several alignment tests and found out I'm (usually) Neutral Good.

The weird, wacky part is checking out how each answer fell into each of the four catergories (Law, Chaos, Neutral and Good). My answers are evenly distributed between Law, Good, Chaos and Neutral.

I find it difficult to comprehend how anyone who was neutral evil or chaotic evil (particularly the latter) could even be answering this poll, since they're almost certainly in jail, in an Intensive Care Unit somewhere, or dead.

Or perhaps just an underworld criminal figure. ::)

I think it's a common misconception that chaotic evil people go around killing everyone they see. For most people, the only chance they have to express their chaotic evil-ness would be something like cheating on a test, or taking a bus or a tram without paying the fare, or shoplifting minor things, or threatening to kill a referee during a soccer game. Most people don't have the means or the opportunity to go around killing everyone they see.

That said, I've done this test about three times and I get Neutral Good every time.

Chaotic Evil

A chaotic evil character does whatever his greed, hatred, and lust for destruction drive him to do. He is hot-tempered, vicious, arbitrarily violent, and unpredictable. If simply out for whatever he can get, he is ruthless and brutal. If he is committed to the spread of evil and chaos, he is even worse. Thankfully, his plans are haphazard, and any groups he joins or forms are poorly organized. Typically, chaotic evil people can only be made to work together by force, and their leader lasts only as long as he can thwart attempts to topple or assassinate him. The demented sorcerer pursuing mad schemes of vengeance and havoc is chaotic evil. Chaotic evil is sometimes called "demonic" because demons are the epitome of chaotic evil. Chaotic evil is the most dangerous alignment because it represents the destruction not only of beauty and life but of the order on which beauty and life depend.

So angry, bashful, violent people. Drunks?  Just because you're quick to anger doesn't mean you go around smashing people up with broken beer bottles every night.  Perhaps you just tend to live your life out and whenever some one does something to tick you off you get them drunk and beat the snot out of them?  Hot tempered is not necessarily stupid.

And oh, there are a lot of gangs out these days.  I do mean a lot!

Within a particular roleplaying system, (in this case, Dungeons and Dragons - since that's the system upon which the test we refer to is based) yes - the handbook is[/u] the gospel.

These actions are not Chaotic Evil; they are Neutral Evil, since they disregard the law but do not seek to bring down the order that others are bound by - it simply doesn't apply to the person. A Chaotic Evil character ramraids the store, empties it at gunpoint, then fires a rocket into it as he drives off. A Chaotic Evil person hijacks the bus or tram, drives to his destination (probably ignores every traffic obstacle along the way) and then gets off.

This comes a lot closer to a Chaotic Evil action, granted - but the Chaotic Evil person would probably punch the person (for good measure) and then threaten to kill him.

Nothing says CE actions have to be ACTIVE (or any other alignment actually). A CE character merely disregards the law entirely, not caring if he gets noticed, an NE would ratehr keep his unlawfulness somewhat concealed.

real great about argueing in what is evil and what is good

but true evil and good is in our midst hidden, lurking till it can show it's true identity
it's all triggered in certain event's example in war the local loser could be the hero of the nation
