Alternate Portrait
« on: February 22, 2005, 01:53:57 PM »
Amalthea has been generous enough to provide us with yet another alternate portrait (Muse contributed the first couple, cleaning him up nicely; they can be seen in this thread . )

Cailean: An archer NPC for the insatiably nosy!

Despite his heartthrob status in real life, Orlando Bloom has consistently functioned as a node of negative energy onscreen, sucking the life force out of all who surround him. --Dana Stevens, Slate.com

Here's a cropped version that will be used in-game.

Edit: Here's the correct cropped version.

Very nice portrait.  Though is it just me or have the proportions of the cropped version changed?  The face looks much longer.

Yes, indeed, that appears to have been cropped a bit wrongly.  Attached a different version.

Something about the eyes, I think.

Mmm, I've been reading the dialogues here; can't wait until I get to see him in my game. :)

*pats pats*  No worries.  That "keep ratio" (or whatever it's called) option can be a bit of a pain 'cause if you're off by a few pixels then things end up looking strange.

Not that I don't like the original - I do! - but wowee!!

Nice! I like it.

He looks a quite bit older than in the default portrait, though. Then again, I'm not sure I remember how old he is supposed to be... :P

I am afraid (should I be?) that I like this portrait much better. I reckon this should be the default. The other looks more painted to me, but these are of course all things that are IMO's

I agree the original looks more painted but to me this is a good thing as it makes it fit in with the original BG2 portraits better.

Using that nifty SUBCOMPONENT feature in WeiDU, all of the variations of Cailean's portraits will be listed so you'll be able to choose the pic you like best.

Yes, the original bio-portraits have an almost plastic-look about them. This alternate Cailean will go nicely with Phaere's alternate portraits.  :)

This is fabulous.
But...will we have an optiopn to shave him?
I know it works for some people but the five o'clock shadow is actually not that much fun to kiss. (IMO.)

Yeah, stubble is no fun when kissing.  We'll see what we can do.

There's already precedent for both bathing and shaving flirts (or was that an LT?), so I don't see why not.

Unless of course Cailean has 100% resistance to grooming.  Some people are lucky with their innate resistances, others not, after all.

Or perhaps--somewhat like Cailean--that's the disguise he had to come up with while certain jealous Bhaalspawns were hunting him down, axes at the ready.  Continued breathing > Nice hair, some would argue.
