Possibilities for Keto ToB (and SoA refinements)
« on: December 18, 2004, 10:00:55 AM »
I just thought we might have a thread for possibilities in the (probably far-off) future where Keto just may be released in V3 with ToB material & some refinements in ToB stuff.  I think I've already mentioned somewhere that Keto could have a banter with that failed bard in the Den of the Seven Vales, and I also would have thought she would be at least somewhat impressed by the destruction of a demilich (I mean, she seemed pretty awestruck by the death of a red dragon and the disappearing of Amunator, you'd think a super-powerful demilich would draw SOME kind of reaction from her).  In addition, for ToB stuff, I'd suggest perhaps including her in Volo's little biographies, perhaps making some reference to "that drunken bard" or something, I don't know.

Does Keto make any banter in Spellhold?  I seem to remember she did, but if she doesn't she should.  Especially the mad bard, that one ought to draw some comment from her.

Great character, guys!  It almost seemed like Keto and Yoshimo were having a romance or something, but it got cut off so I never really figured that out.  It is kinda poetic though, except that doesn't Yoshimo already have a girlfriend?  Or was it a sister ... something to do with Sarevok or something ach I can't remember.  Anyhow, just ignore that little comment ...  ::)

*spoiler perhaps*

Yoshimo is looking for a certain Tamoko who happened to be his sister IIRC.Keto and Yoshimo flirting?  Now that sounds like a reason for keeping Yoshi actually around a bit, before he turns on me.

That is what the developers had been toying with, anyway.  As far as I recall that detail never actually made it into the game (unless I missed something), but that bit of lore is so well known by now that it is widely accepted as fact.

Bons wrote it, it'll be in V3.

A thought. There IS such a thing as overplaying one's hand, and I think you're the first person to even remark on the fact that she talks about Firkraag and the Amaunator encounter.

Yes, Volo inclusion is on the same level with ToL and Screw You Irenicus and Fate Spirit and all that other stuff--not optional.

I see an Aphril bit and some Spellhold Irenicus stuff. So, no, she doesn't interject with everyone. I think it's a mistake to operate under the assumption that Keto will always say something about other bards, though.

It is never established in the game, but yes, there is apparently somewhere in the design concept the idea that Yoshimo is in the region because he was looking to find out what happened to Tamoko.

I happen to find that a pretty satisfying explanation, actually, because it nicely explains why Yoshimo would happen to run into Irenicus (they're following the same <PRO_MANWOMAN>) and why he would make such a terminal error in judgment.

However, because the Tamoko thing isn't clearly canonical, I didn't feel comfortable having Keto include that detail in the Story of Yoshimo.

If I intended to write The Further Adventures of Yoshimo, I'd consider it.

But since we've got enough story to weave from whole cloth with Keto, I go back to just not quite feeling comfortable enough having Keto say "Yes, this is the answer to the Mystery of Yoshimo" and preferring to stick with what we've got.
