Solaufein Shows Up with Wrong Portrait
« on: December 11, 2004, 01:33:13 AM »
When I first encounter Solaufein in Ust Natha, he shows up with this portrait:

Thing is, this is *not* the portrait assigned to Solaufein in the solarom folder, nor is it the portrait that is currently in the override folder (as a matter of fact, I downloaded another portrait from Wes' portrait page and stuck that in my override folder).

I have no idea where this portrait is coming from.  I even went as far as opening up the .cre file in Shadowkeeper, and it is showing Solaufein with the correct portrait.  But in the game itself....that's not what I get.

Any idea how I can fix this?  I know it is a petty thing, but it's driving me crazy.

And before you ask, here's what mods I have installed currently:

- Ease of Use
- Item Upgrade
- Underrepresented Items
- Unfinished Business
- Dungeon-Be-Gone
- PnP Celestials
- Improved Oasis
- D0T Tweaks
- G3 Tweaks
- BG2 Fix Complete (the paperdoll fix)
- SP Items Pack
- Drow Innates
- Totemic Cernd
- G3's NPC Kits
- Solaufein
- Kelsey (SoA and ToB)
- Banter Packs
- Flirt Packs
- Romance Scripts
- Cloakwood Squares

Any idea what might be causing this wierd bug?

**EDIT**

Even when Solaufein finally joins my party after the "chat" with Elhan, I STILL cannot change his portrait.  I opened the savegame in SK and checked, he has the CORRECT portrait showing, and nothing I do is fixing what I see in-game.  I have the same problem with Kelsey (different portrait showing up in SK) but at least the in-game portrait isn't as ugly as the one they stuck poor Sola with.    :-\

No, it's very mysterious. Have you looked in your "portraits" folder?

You know what Wes... I don't know if this is part of your coding or some funky new bug, but I found out that I can change Sola's portrait, soundset(!), colors and script --- just as if he was the player character --- as soon as he joins my party.

I have the same ability to change Kelsey as well.  I cannot do this with any of the original BioWare NPCs, only the 2 modded ones I have in my current game.

They behave as normal... no other problems.

I just thought this was extremely wierd.. but cool in a way.

So Wes, is that just another brilliant piece of coding or an accidental gift from the gods?  (*Scratches head*)

On our part, at least (Kelsey) it's accidental.

For Sola it's intentional. :-) The "export" flag in the CRE structure determines whether you can do those things to a party member. If it is not set you get the standard Imoen-Minsc-yada behavior -- basically, you can only change the script.
