Okay, so I had a fit and spammed chat with all my thoughts on Keto's quest as I played through today. Here they are. On the positive side, I couldn't resist admiring this simply as a masterpiece of cutscening.
- So how come Keto still takes 50 gold off me even when I haven't bought her a drink? (I chose the "going upstairs" option).
* - Journal entry for Keto quest plz.
Done, including different QUEST_DONE entries based on the outcome. -- JC* - I also suspect that the Umar Hills should be revealed on the map when Keto gets her invitation. Convention with other quests, convenience, etc.
- Tewes is completely silent when my PC talks to him. I'd expect a voiced line, but there's not even a generic soundclip, which is just weird.
* - "And if you are inclined to listen," in the overhead text at the start of the competiton... I'm sure it didn't match the voicing. Sounded like there was a "for" in there.
* - "One thing more needing mention" might also not have had matched text/voicing.
- Unvoiced DisplayStringHeads.
These are pretty bad. I'd suggest maybe converting more of the proceedings into proper dialogue if it's not all going to be voiced. This'd also be more convenient for nth-time players who want to click through everything, I guess.
- If the applause sound is matched with DisplayStringHeads, it should probably be ALL the time, rather than just on some occasions.
* - It's sorta disappointing that I'm getting the same response options for every bard coming on.
* - "What did you do relax after your feats of valour" - should the "do" be a "to"? The reply options are also present tense where the question appears to be past, which I find odd.
* - Clicking through all the audience saying "(gasp)" or "oh" is pretty boring after the trick used with the two girls inside the tavern. Suggest varying what they say, or having an invisible "Audience" CRE.
* - Lyrica's 'victory speech'... "the peasant are cheering" is lacking a plural.
* - Quest XP for sitting through cutscene plz. :DDD Seriously... it's not the most challenging quest, but General Rule Of BG2 says that for making the effort to go somewhere, I should get some XP.
(You'll get between 3000-7500 party XP, depending on the results. I think that's more than fair. -- JC)- Sir Joules song text gets displayed way too early, so it vanishes before he's done. Suggest having it show up when the lyrics start rather than the music. Also bear in mind that you can redisplay the same string to stop it fading out too early.
- When Keto's parents recognise her, there's a bit I can't really read because their text overlaps.
- The bardic competition going on while the town is under siege by shadows IS pretty weird. Could we have some acknowledgement in one of the dialogues, and maybe an explanation that bards are crazy, blah blah?
I was also curious as to whether Ulga only showed up if you'd made peace with Madulf, because I couldn't find her. And as a finishing note, I really enjoyed someone being struck by lightning during the performance.
I'm marking stuff I've fixed for V2 with an asterisk. -- Jason
