Stunning advance reviews!
« on: November 17, 2004, 04:39:26 PM »
"It's just the first release, right?"

"I hate Jasper's voice. Bleh."

"I heard Wynne's voice isn't in this mod."

(okay, I made that last one up.)

Jasper sounds like Kevin Costner reading the tabloids.  Through his nose.

I thought it was Jason's John Lovitz impression.

I knew we should have called it v26! Damnable oneists!  :D

And yes, my treatment of Jasper is highly influenced by Tales of Ribaldry.

Heh, actually the 'Partially toasted, slightly drowsy and, mildly annoyed' line of:

"Do you mind!?... "

Replaces my favorite spoken line/battle cry of:

"You have mis-calculated!"

Through the nose?  Not really.  I'm kind of leaning more towards a "I need a few hours more sleep" combined with "I'm half-wasted" and a hint of "Where the hell am I anyway?" type of voice when I hear her move her around the screen.  But, that's just my outlook.  8)
Check it out my friend!  Bling-bling!

The context for nose-talking is that while you hear 150 lines, Bons has heard SR say these lines in about 37 billion permutations. And some of them were pretty nasal. I've heard. :)

And SR makes a "bla-bla-bla-bla" sound when she fumbles a line. I now think of that as "Redding."   :D

I know for certain that Lee Strassberg advocated Redding to all the voice talents as a way to overcome stage fright. He made them stand on one leg with a carrot in the left ear and go 'bla'bla'bla' all day. A friend of mine even paid for that treatment. :D

Good thing I didn't send you most of the lines where I cursed like a sailor when messing up. I'd much prefer 'bla-bla" to "(%(*&)@#&@" as my trademark. ^_^

Well hell. Step right up, folks! You too, can be a loved and influential voice actor/tress for only $49.99 a lesson!

Oh, no, there was some of that. I was relieved to hear it, too, because everyone knows cursing and burping in the outtakes is a sign of quality!

So far these advance reviews are not much chop. Luckily, I have no patience for waiting until Chapter 6 and am now able to supply something a little more detailed. I hereby declare my interest as a contributor to the VA, in case my journalistic integrity is questioned. Note that I have resisted the urge to make any offers of free steak knives in the following ad for the Keto mod, because it really doesn't need that much selling.

Keto is here! Voiced with verve, personality and charm by Stoplight Red, Keto is a witty addition to your party. You'll love your choice of replies, cunningly and entertainly contrived by the creators. Sit back and be entertained by Keto's quest - with singing and playing and poems. Be moved by her story. Will all your questions be answered?

Some of the audio gets cut off short, but this tiny technical glitch can easily be fixed by somebody, I'm sure. The banters and dialogue are great, the bards in the competition are really fun, the audience responses are hilarious, and SR is brilliant. Cliffette, love your poems. Well done to jc and Bons: it's clever, it's fun, it's been worth waiting for.

Oh, I forgot to say, Barry is damn good.

Cliffette, love your poems.

All I can say is that this mod would be greatly improved by the inclusion of the poems in their original form. What's wrong with 'Let out your fetish' as a closer, eh?  >:(

You mean, that some unauthorised editing has taken place?  :o
In order to make any decisions I would have to see the originals.
That's a hint.
