Bancos.aj trojan in ease of use mod for BG2 V26 and 28
« on: October 30, 2004, 07:51:13 AM »
I have located and erraticated 2 trojans located in both V26 and 28 for BG2 the 3 Anti Virus programs I run seperately all found it after downloading files from this site, not catch it until I ran full system scan and then it deleted the whole file.. The trojan is inside the 2 ease of use mods for BG2 only so far, as I run windows NT base system it could not infect my system, persay  but for others they may need to take steps to rid themselves of the problem. It is a low threat but  allows hackers to access, download and control personal information on affected system once ease of use is activated and installed.

I just downloaded v28, ran it through Norton and Trend Micro, and neither one found anything.  Anyone else have any problems or notice anything?

I checked my copy of Ease v28 with AVG and didnt' run into any problems.  I also tried unzipping the contents and scanning them: no problems there either.

F-Secure couldn't find anything either, but perhaps I did not get your description right.

I am not sure actually name is copied and pasted from norton virus info, but the file I have downloaded 3 times off the site( both versions for BG2 only) have been removed by Norton,Panda, and PC-Cillin, but I have tried 3 different systems behind a firewall, and 3 different Anti-Virus programs and basically every time I download(even after a full format and re-install of everything the AV programs will scan versions 26 and  version 28 of the ease of use mod and delete them immediately. Odd part of this is if you have WinRAR installed it will let you unzip to a folder and not find anything in files, just the installer package. The message I get when it finds it is trj/Bancos.aj was found and neutralized and when I look for the ease of use installer it is deleted. That is why I am leaning towards the installer having the trojan not the ease of use files itself. I was trying to see if anyone else had this problem also I can download the 2 ease of use mods (have IWD and IWD2 and BG1 mods also no flags on virus scans there) on any computer with Background Virus scanning active thorough scan set, and it will not find trojan or virus until I do a full system scan(not changing scan settings). I also use online virus scanners in case I get infected by a virus that may corrupt my virus scanner on hard drive. If I am the only one that is having this issue then sorry to waste everyones time and board space for the issue. I was just hoping maybe someone else was also getting same virus(trojan) message from the (only 2) Baldur's gate2 ease of use installers. Thanks for your time, and also Sorry for extra long in depth article about the issue also.
